Germany flooding destroys Brainworx’s main studio, leaves employees without workspace

Dirk Ulrich and the Brainworx team have suffered the loss of their iconic studio and much of its gear when the Brainworx office building in Germany was hit by the severe flooding in Germany on July 15th.

As documented by the international media, Germany got hit with the hardest rainfalls and flooding ever, that left hundreds of people dead and whole cities washed away by the rain and the resulting floods. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families and friends, of course.

While none of the Brainworx team was hurt or physically harmed, the company building will be unusable for months to come, as it is located in one of the areas that got hit the hardest. In fact, BX may have to move and find a new home asap to rebuild their offices and studios.

While the BX team is not asking for donations, you can support them by buying BX plugins or their merchandise.

The legendary BX main studio was completely destroyed in this disaster and only a few pieces of outboard equipment survived the flood. The water was around 60cm deep in the whole building for many hours. The iconic NEVE VXS 72 console (one of only 9 ever built) was badly damaged and had to be sold and removed from site as soon as possible due to mold growth that started after just 48 hours in the building. The large PMC MB2-XBD main loudspeakers were destroyed, as was a rare power amplifier from the German legend Dieter Burmester (RIP). Many of the 19-inch gears were damaged. Only devices that sat on desks or in the higher slots of the 19-inch racks survived.

I hope the hardware is not permanently damaged, other than that if there is no human loss, i think that's already something to celebrate!

    It totally Sucks,
and it's a considerable disaster for one of the few companies that actually do their stuff right/properly..

But still, that's what Insurances are for, no?
plus I don't think the German Government will leave them empty handed considering it's a Natural Catastrophe..

Dry/clean the place, cash-in the Insurance and Gov help, and fix/substitute the broken gear..
And since they're at it make it even better/bigger than the first time.
(and on a 1st/2nd floor this time!)

    They have the resources.
It's not that they were 2 guys from the ghetto, living on beans/noodles and coding on their grandma's basement..
They're an established and successful company.

    So, no problem?

Still, if you want to support the company, this will be a good time to buy Elysia Alpha Compressor,
which is by far the Best Mastering Compressor that exists (imo), an absolute jewel/prodigy of an almost Magical nature!

Sorry - belief is the opponent of knowledge - there is not a cent from the government.

Very few are insured against natural hazards. What does the elementary insurance protect against? Cost check: Damage caused by natural forces is damage caused by the effects of natural forces.

These can be: - flooding, - flood, - heavy rain, - hail, - Storm, - Earthquake, - avalanches, - snow pressure, - Volcanic eruptions.

The average annual contribution is between EUR 600 and EUR 1,000. However, it can vary greatly upwards and downwards. How high this actually is depends, among other things, on the insurance company and the types of damage insured.

Act of God - events caused by floods or earthquakes are not covered under standard homeowners policies. I hope the studio owners took extra insurance out

From Plugin Alliance (linked in the OP, BTW):

The iconic BX main studio was completely destroyed in this disaster, and only a few pieces of outboard gear have survived the flooding. The water was standing in the whole building about 2ft (60cm) deep for many hours. The iconic NEVE VXS 72 console (one of only 9 ever made) was damaged badly and had to be sold and removed from the location asap because of mold formation that started in the building after only 48 hours. The big PMC MB2-XBD main speakers were destroyed as well as a rare power amp by German legend Dieter Burmester (RIP)

The building itself is owned by Dirk Ulrich, who rents out the building to the Brainworx Audio GmbH company, which is run by CEO Winfried Schapitz.
(full disclosure: Dirk owns Brainworx & Plugin Alliance, but he is not the CEO for BX anymore)

Both, Dirk and Brainworx had only partial insurance for the building and/or the equipment, but a flooding disaster wasn’t part of the existing policies, as the BX office wasn’t in a known flooding risk area. This leaves Dirk with the financial damage of the renovation of the current BX building and/or the task to buy a new office building, and Brainworx Audio GmbH with the financial damage of the audio and computer equipment that needs to be replaced - plus the task to build new professional studios and workspaces in a new office/studio location asap.

with more and more floods across urban areas - year on year, I hope the "act of god" get out of jail free clause for the insurance companies is closed for this kind of event and flooding is accepted as a real, genuine and now relatively common risk across many urban areas. OK rant over....

Oh my God, this is really terrible. I sympathize with all those who had to go through this. Due to the fact that our office was also flooded a little, we also had to leave it. I was very sad because I love my office and have furnished my workplace very comfortably. When our manager told us that he had found a place for coworking using the service https://osdoro.com/us/coworking-space-nyc / at first I was skeptical, but then I just fell in love with this place. This is really conducive to work. I think everyone will come to this.

I think they cleaned everything, then dried the rooms and then the painters were there.
I think they are all working. Corona was also an additional burden.

Enclosed are the sad pictures of the disaster:

It turns out was all just an insurance scam. They took the money and went into audio equipment NFT's.
