Saw ZZ Top live at the Calgary Convention Center in the mid 70's.
The opening band was a Seattle upstart called "Heart".
They were premiering their first album.
Those were the days, sigh :guru:

His cousin Hank asks that you respectfully allow the family to grieve in private at this time.

WooooW, so sad news... Always been a fan, have even covered some of their songs on (amateur's) stages with friends when I was young...

What is different for me about this band, is that their music have deep, deep roots, African roots. It didn't came from nowhere, and these guys have dedicated their life to advocate / popularize / give their best to Blues-inspired creation, giving authenticity to the audience when Rock music was becoming a commercial-only, soulless business.

I remember hearing "Lagrange" for the first time in the eighties, it was so different from other Rock music I listened then, but at the same time so.. familiar, like if they established a bridge between tradition and modern times. The Billy Gibbon's singing solos are mesmerizing, and the big, big bass sound of Dusty Hill are boosting everything... to the stars!

Even if I don't know them and never seen them on stage, I always felt them as musical (big) brothers. So good bye, Brother Dusty, hope to see you one day, and jam with you in the Skies!

It looks like this - but it's not what you think: Many musicians and songwriters traveled to the USA or England from distant countries. Because the earning opportunities in their home countries were simply bad. At that time the possibilities to produce his music only existed in America and England.
Many dialects and languages sound inharmonious to Europeans and Americans. Therefore, if you have something to say musically, you should sing in English. English is more harmonious and easier to understand.
