it seems as if developers have ties with the admin where they pay the company then they brief their usual suspects to either derail or hype up new products

Why do you don't explain exactly what this is about, and give some precise example(s), testimony(ies) and argument(s)? Are you a member of this Gearspace forum? A regular user? Since when? What fake news (or bad rumors) exactly have you red there? Can you compare to other sites of the same genre / style / domain of interest, so we can clearly see what's different with this site?

You seems to think that everyone in the world knows this site and what it is, you don't think about the members like me, from other parts of the world, who've never heard about it... I stop here, I thought I was stupid, but I found my master here...

You edited your first message, this is an improvement because now we begin to perceive what possibly could be the real subject of this thread: corruption.

It now could be cool if someone else have a testimony / story about this, what kind of product / brand do you think is exaggeratedly "hyped up" by this site? Is there a suspicion about too much / too often ultra-positive reviews / test?

This is not a simple subject.
It is unthinkable to have the true truth from a website, from a youtuber, but not even from a newspaper or a TV channel
Gearspace is a site that makes money by advertising audio gear and software: it is quite obvious that it will not tell the whole truth, as no other audio-pro forum (or professional youtuber) will.
Basically nobody wants you to have a clear idea, otherwise you probably wouldn't buy anything
When I am oriented to buy new gear (or software) I start reading any audio pro article about it, I look at every youtube reviews, I read the online manual and, with a lot of cold blood, I think about it. Then I calmly decide if it is appropriate to pull the trigger on that product, on another equivalent or even give up the purchase

 

Thanks to the link indicated in the sister site, I found more about Analog Obsession: it appears that it's not really a commercial business but a simple guy who releases his plugins for free on Patreon and in return asks for regular financial support.

Knowing that, if Gearspace site talks a lot about these plugs, it could be a good thing, don't you think?

Acustica, from my (limited) point of view, appears to be a completely other kind of beast: it's a well-known and longtime existing commercial company, I think they have largely the means to apply some pressure / do some lobbying on journalists to make them speak loudly about their products, or even conclude some dark / secret commercial agreement with any online media to make them always use positive terms when they talk about Acustica...

But of course I can also be wrong about all that, I'm not a guru in this technical domain, I'm more a musician / composer than a technician (or a businessman), so maybe I'm not the most pertinent guy to talk about all that.

I was a regular member for many years but jumped ship in 08. When they caved in to SJW tears I knew it was the nail in the coffin. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say. For all the ups and downs on this forum I'd rather support this community any day.

 

Wow I never knew Meg was involved in its birth. Jules sounds like a grade A piece of shit to me and even more so because Im an old fan of hers from those Pigface days.

 

One thing that I dislike about GS people is that they focus so much about the gear/plugin hoarding, aliasing, etc. rather than releasing actual music.

 

cause you have the best speakers and proper room acoustics

cause they are mostly pro mix mastering ppl and less producers i would say ...

but I don't think Negro deserved any of it..

Gearslutz was a very Big and famous board for decades, two exactly,
so that's 20 years being one of the biggest in the field..

It was/is one of the go-to places to ask/get info about Audio Hardware and Music Production stuff,
what speakers and amps to buy, what headphones, what plugs, daws, interfaces etc etc..

And there was quite a ruckus not too long ago when they changed their name to Gearspace for Political Correctness matters..
(and we had a lot of fun here tearing the topic apart.. lol)

So yeah, it's not really a New thing,
and it's not Negro's fault if you're new in the field/scene, or you've been living under a rock!
