Hi there. I'm a beginner and I've been trying to create a track that is prominent based on the bass/rythm. I'd be glad to hear your feedback.

Sounds ok in my book, it's just lacks a bit of low end, a proper master can probably fix that.

Are you working without a subwoofer?

At 1:10 minutes - idling for a few seconds - you only hear a click - maybe you can use another more powerful instrument or edit that, otherwise good job.

Thank you guys! I don’t know what I did but I fixed that, thank you. Can I ask about arrangements & fx? I think for this song I’m calling it a day but I’m still quite not getting the hang of using reverb/cut off automations on basses. Also, I think it is still sounding muffled. Is there anything in particular I can focus on more in the next projects?

Fits perfectly - take your time!

    1st drums

    1.1 BASS DRUM
A bass drum generally has 3 relevant frequency ranges, which can be easily processed with the equalizer.
    print
Frequency: 60Hz (Pop) to 120Hz (Techno)
Setting: Increase / decrease narrow banding with peak EQ
    Effect: more / less pressure
    resonance
    Frequency: Between 200Hz & 300Hz
Setting: lowering with a medium Q-factor
Effect: dry & powerful sound is promoted
Tip: To find the resonances, you can run through the frequency range defined above with a narrow-band EQ. As soon as a supernatural roar or tug can be heard, you can lower it in a narrow band.
    kick
    Frequency: Between 3kHz & 6kHz
Setting: Increase slightly with the medium Q-factor
Effect: The kick drum will prevail better.
Tip: Always raise the frequency range for more enforcement before raising the level!

    1.2 SNARE DRUM
    print
    Frequency: 150Hz - 200Hz
    Setting: lift slightly
Effect: Emphasize the pressure and sound of the snare
    resonance
    Frequency: 250Hz - 600Hz
Setting: lowering in a narrow band
Effect: drier sound of the snare
    Attack
    Frequency: approx. 2 kHz
    Setting: lift slightly
    Effect: Increase the attack percentage
    presence
    Frequency: 5kHz - 6kHz
    Setting: raising
Effect: more assertiveness, more loudness of the snare carpet

    1.3 HI HAT
    Use high-pass filter at approx. 150Hz - 250Hz
    Frequency: 800Hz - 2kHz
    Setting: lowering
Effect: The hi-hat gets a softer sound
    presence
    Frequency: 8kHz - 10kHz
Setting: Increase slightly with the high shelf filter
Effect: The hi-hat gets more clarity and presence in the mix

    1.4 TOMS
    resonance
Frequency: 250Hz - 500Hz (depending on the size of the tom)
    Setting: lowering
    Effect: Drier, cleaner sound
Tip: Run through the frequency range defined above with a narrow-band EQ to find booming resonance frequencies.
    print
    Frequency: below the resonance frequency
    Setting: lowering
    Effect: more pressure
    Attack
Frequency: 2kHz - 6kHz (depending on the size of the tom)
    Setting: lift slightly
    Effect: reinforcement of the stop

    1.5 OVERHEADS
Set low cut filters from approx. 60Hz to avoid problems with the bass drum.
    Soft sound
    Frequency: 800hz - 2kHz
    Setting: lower broadband
    Frequency: about 12khZ
    Setting: raise
Effect: The overheads get a softer sound.

    Greetings Earthling!

This track sounds good. The dynamics are fine, there could be opportunity as stated above for for lower frequencies. Sounds well overall. A few spots could be boosted for a brighter resonance, but this could also be a artistic choice.

I'll be posting my travels here soon.

    Travel safely,

    - TTT
