I'm transitioning to a windows machine (my first build ever) and MYRIAD has been my go to batch processor in macOS for years. Whats good on the Windows side?

Can you put your question in more concrete terms?

for very basic tasks, Format Factory worked fine on Windows for me,
speaking of more advanced audio stuff,
Reaper has decent batch converter, iZotope RX Advanced features batch converter

Sox and a few bash/batch scripts usually work the best for me, both on Win and Mac.

While Windows users live in a software Eldorado, Apple users are by no means in a program wasteland. Since Apple computers are only suitable as a game platform to a limited extent, gamers among Mac users often use game consoles such as the Sony Playstation. In addition, there are far fewer games for the Mac than for Windows computers. Windows computers are cheaper and users actually have a larger selection of different products than Apple. In addition, there is the better software offer.

Ok, some of the stuff I'd like to be able to do in batches, if possible, that Myriad can do, among the 100+ others.

Balance stereo channels (peak or RMS)
    Change gain
Fade in audio from silence up to a given threshold, with an optional offset and curve
Fade in audio from silence for a given length and curve
Fade out the audio to silence after going below a given threshold, with optional offset and curve
Fade out the audio to silence for a given length and curve
    Normalize (dB, RMS)
    Pan
    Change Bit Depth
Convert Sample Rate (Goodhertz HQ or better)
    Invert Phase
    Remove DC offset
    Reverse
Change Pitch: Alter the pitch of the audio by a given offset in cents with or without changing the length
Change Speed: Alter the speed of the audio by a given factor with or without changing the pitch
Change Tempo: Alter the tempo pf the audio with or without changing the pitch
Stereo to Mono (combine left +right, just left, just right)
Extend: add silence to the beginning and or end of an audio file of a given length
Pad: Add Silence at the beginning and or end of an audio file
Shorten: Remove audio from the beginning and or end of a file to result in an audio file of a given length
Trim Beginning Below: Remove audio from the beginning of a file that is below a given threshold
Trim Beginning To: Remove audio from the beginning of a file for a given length
Trim Beginning to Peak: Remove audio from the beginning of a file to the peak level of the audio
Trim End Below: Remove audio from the end of a file that is below a given threshold
Trim End For: Remove audio from the end of a file for a given length
Change Length: Alter the length of the audio with a given length with or without changing the pitch
Process with Audio Unit (VST on windows obviously)
Transpose: Alter the pitch of the audio by a given octave and or interval with or without changing the length
And of course convert to an assortment of audio file formats.

It should go without saying but the soft should be able to do as many of these I want in sequence, in whatever order I please, all in one pass.

    Hope that helps.

Meanwhile I'll go through the list at https://s3.amazonaws.com/izotopedownloads/docs/rx8/en/resample/index.html

I know it's aimed at fixing audio. I've used RX7's Resample in the past. It's pretty good. At fist glance RX8 looks about the same.

SOX can handle pretty much all of it, but you'll have to get comfy with the command line.
RX8 should take care of it too, but its a little bit different than Myriad so it takes some getting used to.

I dont know what I would do without Myriad. Now we just need Zynaptiq to put the damn thing up for sale. They keep updating it for the old users but havent done shit else with it yet. Ive been waiting to buy it for like a year and half now, luckily the last K'd version still works on Big Sur.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, the only pieces of software that come to mind are iZotope RX Advanced (Currently RX8, as you already know) and Cockos Reaper. I am less sure about RX Advanced, but it should be able to do many of the tasks you want. Reaper, though? Everything you listed is very doable using actions in Reaper, though it might be more advanced than you'd like, at first. Once it is all setup, however, it would be easy to do. For example, you can have a custom action in the menu that you just click and it inverts the phase on all the tracks. Then, you can have a separate action that batch processes every track. The "hard", time consuming part is setting up those actions. The good news is that a lot of the actions you'd want already exist.

Yeah I saw that. These apps seemingly can't find a home Aurchitect> Audiofile Engineering> Zynaptiq :dunno:

Now to find out what the heck SOX is.

Thanks peeps. Rx8 covers a few things, but not all. Sound Forge I didn't think about even though I use a crappy older Mac version to hand edit samples. I just love how easy it is to zoom in (maybe down to the sample?) and make the perfect cut. I always kept it around just for that. It crashes trying to do other things though, sometimes just sitting there doing nothing. I'll have to look into the Windows version and it's batch processing more, if I can find more info. Same for Reaper. Thanks for the video & link.

Myriad is awesome and I'm surprised I haven't found anything like it on Windows. Maybe Zynaptiq will do us all a favor while they're updating Myriad and make a Windows version as well.

some 0ther useful tool to do batch audio editing done through command line:
ffmpeg - converter, av joiner etc
    id3 - mp3 tagger

reaper daw for ure list of equivalent myriad task..

i use python for renaming, moving, copying etc file/directory because its easy and can handle more complex batch task like if mp3 files are all over the place, i can use python to locate and extract it artist name from audio metadata and then create folder named by artist name and move its mp3 to its folder in one script.. and everything sorted in a go.. yeps.. i recommend it for lifelong tools because python is the only programming language i find its library satisfying our general purpose needs from text mangling to pdf and excel etc to file directory and auromating and its syntax is more easy tp understand than what im trying to explain hehe.. gd luck .. just recommending for such general purpose task..

ouh also.. check 0ut microsoft power automate desktop.. its free recently.. easy automate anything incl apps to webbrowsing..with ui.. welcome to windows.. im updating to win 11.. :shalom:

Thanks Futurewine. I'll eventually get accustomed to Windows. Think I'll hold off on 11 until I'm settled in, the potential bugs are worked out, and I make sure my audio interface/hardware and soft/DAW are all working with no issues.

I also need to figure out what to replace Little Snitch with. I know some people here use the sister site a lot so I'm assuming there is a way to block unwanted incoming and especially outgoing network traffic. The question is how and or with what?

I think you should have stayed with Mac, the new M1 MacMini with 16GB ram just flies

about the LittleSnitch alternative, I spent few years looking for a good alternative, and NetLimiter 4 is the way to go on Windows 10 - even on customized/lite versions of Windows, because it doesn't rely/interact with Microsoft Firewall :winker:

What i like about a mac? Nothing?!

If you could easier install MacOS on a (windows) PC, would u still buy overpriced Apple hardware? Would you? I guess NO.

@tzzsmk Thanks for the recommendation on NetLimiter 4. I'll check it out. I'm looking into one called GlassWire as well. Just learned of that one.

The reason I didn't go with the M1 MacMini is 1: I will not buy a closed system and or all in one machine, been there, done that. 2: I needed a machine that can handle top notch VR/games as well as DAW duties. I'm sure Apple will eventually put those nifty chips in better machines and rumor is they're working on some VR stuff, but ARM chips will end up in PC's anyways. For now the 5950x I'm running is overkill for what I'm doing. I just happen to get a deal on it and in these times I couldn't pass it up. Honestly my ancient Mac Pro can run a stupid large track count too.

@clone Yeah I do, and I use them a lot. Why do you ask?

I ask about hardware samplers because Zero-X Beat Creator is probably the only PC program I either miss, or do not have an adequate or direct Mac replacement for. You can stick a regular SCSI card inside a tower pc for like 20$ and connect it to old samplers. (on the cheap!). It's better than Recycle 2.0, on either Mac or pc, to me. 2.1 has no SCSI at all. But it's the same thing, wav file transients detected, sliced, and then sent key mapped as slices over scsi. it's not much slower than loading something into Kontakt.

    kind of batch processing...

I was doing lots of comparisons between NetLimiter and GlassWire, and overall NetLimiter was far better, while GlassWire didn't even work on Lite Windows versions with Windows Firewall disabled,
I highly recommend testing those all, at best in virtual machine, so you can observe how exactly they behave (and if/how K works if you don't wanna buy them just yet),

fair enough about the PC choice - me, I prefer having both now, and I've always enjoyed hackintosh dualboot so I wouldn't mix my gaming and work environment - problem with Windows is, it can get easily bloated, so using different system for games and for work is often more hassle-free experience, but then it's questionable if having two Windows systems on two drives makes much sense in the end

@tzzsmk "but then it's questionable if having two Windows systems on two drives makes much sense in the end"

Why is that? Is there an issue setting up two or more drives with their own Windows or versions of Windows? On my Macs I always kept things separate with two or more drives. I didn't/don't mind booting up to whichever drive and it kept my DAW system/drive clean.

    More stuff to look into.
