Yes, he's managed to have a lot of good fans. Which is not so common for a bassist.

 

The song caused me some nice impressions the first time, I don't know, is just that always liked that kind of rhythm melodic bass, for that song I started to listen more about the members their "friends" the flyers "something", luis cole, knower, it was strange also I bet they were Jews and most of them are.

I never played bass professionally but I loved to play that kind of bass style, anyway it always destroyed my fingers so I never get good at it (I used to play guitar)

Besides Jaco I can only think of the bassist of Jamiroquai the one of the first albums but he always was somewhat in the background.

In the context of the amazing crowd reaction I think this is the top of the top, sadly there is no live video of that concert or not yet published if someone have it, some peopl told that when the bass solo starts Zawinul took his marimba and knee in front of Jaco they started to play together, but this was the rare thing, I think Zawinul on purpose tried to get Jaco into "the zone" to go into an amazing solo, in fact the marimba had no microphones and if you put attention you can still listen at it very far in the background, then Zawinul comeback to his place with his keyboards but everyone was already on fire, it produced me goose bumps as the bass solo is so exciting and then the song had a false end followed with a last part and finally the end I imagine the crowd having something similar to a sexual orgasm, a long and outstanding ovation.
