DSP56K Emulator Public Beta NOW AVAILABLE!

Private BETA testing has been happening for the past week and we now feel its ready for the public.

Please note that the download includes only the DSP Emulator as we cannot and will not provide any ROMs due to copyright reasons.

The Emulator currently has no GUI. We have one designed however we need somebody skilled in JUCE to piece it all together. If you think you could help, get in touch!

Despite this, we wanted to get this Emulator out as fast as possible for you to try, so it's possible to use the Emulator via Mystery Islands VirusHC or Ctrlr for now.

The Virus B / C are just the beginning for this Emulator and more synths will be supported in the future!

No, it's just that no one wants to attach their name to the project.
Linking the ROM on this forum would be warez... I think.

 

many synth roms are now part of MAME, arcade (and more) emulator so one can google it around.

Clean Virus A, B, C, Rack, Rack XL, and Classic are there along with Akai, Alesis, Casio, Elektron, Ensoniq, Fairlight, Kurzweil, Roland, Yamaha, Sequential Circuits... it's early days but eventually - they are a driven bunch that want to emulate everything ;)

 

It sounds the same.
I always liked Kamui banks, so, I opened them and it sounds the same like my hardware Virus C, no difference at all. All other banks I used - yeah, many presets I remember, they all the same!

Thru demo of virus hc editor you can import mid files of banks. HC editor already has 8 factory banks. In reaper I can send a template, but you also need to install loopMIDI driver to communicate virus emu with hc editor

Also, I didn't have a clue that MAME can emulate any synths! Wow. It's going to be a bit time-consuming finding the ROMs, but very probably quite worth it. I use MAME sometimes to play those old arcade games for relaxation.

I wonder what MIDI loopback driver are people around here using? I used to use MIDI Yoke, but its development stopped decades ago [not that it doesn't work nicely!] I found Tobias Erichsen's loopMIDI a good alternative for more modern systems W7 up.

Your work is awesome. My most sincere congratulations!

I have a little programming experience (VB6), so I don't think I can be helpful, but I can grasp the amount of skill and effort you put into this project.

I made it work, with both Virus B and C, Windows 10, Cubase 11, Reaper and vstHost. It sounds great, no latency, responds to CCs, etc.

I do get some audio glitches and dropouts in some cases - when trying to play polyphony, for example, or in complex sounds-
I know my computer may not be powerful enough (i7 2600K), although, when playing, most of the time cpu load is low, but with sparse spikes.

Do you think my old processor is to blame or could I expect a future version of the emulator could have better efficiency?

Same! learn how to google yall, lol. EDIT: Playin with this for the last 3-4 hours. I got a real virus in the house y'all! I don't know why this is so amazing, maybe because I've wanted one forever. Zebra or Falcon or Phaseplant, or Pigments are better synths, but still, this is a VIRUS, lol!

Thank you, to add to what others have said above, in FL I sometimes get a note stuck in parallel, and the sound of a note I haven't pressed comes on. And it occasionally freezes, more often when you close the DAW.
