Does anyone do this? I'm liking the sound but for some things like long string sustains the tuning sounds off when compared to other things in 432. Sometimes by switching these problem sustains to 440 while keeping everything else 432 it seems to blend better but then you end up with some instruments in 440 and others in 432... Is this OK?

edit: I should mention this discrepancy is mainly noticeable in the Kontakt player.

if it sounds better to you, why would it not be ok? some people will just typically prefer one or the other "to their ears".
sometimes you have to pass on the math and use your ears.

If it sounds good, then it sounds good. I wouldn't get caught up in the technicalities of tuning, especially for a string section or any fretless or non tempered instrument. Being a little off is part of their charm.

Excellent! Thanks for the input, the logic had me questioning but it seems one must defy logic in this instance. I like it!

It's interesting you even noticed something like that in the first place.

I'm curious then. are you writing a number of different parts in one stereo instance of kontakt?

    Nope, one instrument per player.

The standard concert pitch or normal pitch that has been valid in many countries since an international conference in London in 1939 is fixed at a1 = 440 Hertz (Hz). In German and Austrian symphony orchestras, however, a1 = 443 Hz is common, in Switzerland a1 = 442 Hz. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kammerton
