I tend to agree with you. But I would like to put it into perspective:
Putting your focus 100% on reaction speed, with which you can break world records, does not make you a good boxer.
But a boxer who doesn't put any emphasis on training his reaction speed is going to catch a lot of punches - and loses the fight.

    OR

A medical degree does not make you a good illustrator, but an illustrator who does not study bone and muscle structure fails when trying to put a realistic image of a body and its light/shadow cast on paper.

    Dear rapper,
You never went to school (and I know you feel proud about that), you've never read a book in your life (not even a newspaper) and maybe you don't even know how to write without the help of auto-compose on the smartphone.
My question is: why did you choose to write rhymes to make a living? I think you should choose a job that better fits your personality
I know there is a lot of request for truck drivers at Amazon Prime ($16.50/hour), otherwise You can collect shopping carts in the Walmart parking ($12/hour)
Stop embarrassing yourself: forget "poetry", that's not your thing

If you didn't memorize your music without cheating by jotting it down into your DAW. If you couldn't palm read that shit into someones head afterwards and they never heard your vision... with Dre. By Beats, Hee.

That's what it sounds like when you can't write your lyrics and call that cheating.

Rapper "Dave East" is perhaps a bit west of my understanding of how art works and is surely unforgiving and conservative insofar as that the broader genre of Rap is inclusive to a myriad of forms that many true artists can take. Too and conversely, there certainly is much to be said regarding the merits of the improvised and novel spur of the moment approach which he seems to believe is the true and authentic foundation of the form. Other mediums, particularly visual art such as painting and sculpture celebrate the immediate and have raised certain artists to the pinnacle of the creative world's mind's eye such as Jackson Pollack who's work is celebrated as some of the greatest in this last 100 years, art created in the moment, unconsciously executed and thankfully displayed in museums and galleries around the world for those wishing to study and/or appreciate them for what they are. Then there are artists such as Andy Goldworthy who, using things found at hand, sculpts not with permanence in mind but rather with the idea of his chosen materials be reabsorbed from whence they came, contemplating the natural cycle of growth and decay. Dave East might be advised take a pause to free up his prejudice and relax his guard, the retentuve nature of his rant leaves very little room for any other ideas, ideals or foundation in which to build a more free space in order for others to explore their own creative process.

Again with the elitism. If you don't get rap then don't bother with this shit.

Watch this and then tell me there aren't people in hip hop who don't understand how words work:

Of course you won't because that might crack your ivory tower a bit.

    Sheesh.

Comparing eminem or jay z with Shakespeare seems a bit risky to me, I don't think it's appropriate, probably this gentleman in the video has never read anything from shakespeare.
I found the politicized hiphop of the 80-90's very interesting, it was the voice of the underground, where there was a strong social awareness, a desire to denounce the abuse to the lower classes.
    I give you some examples:
    Grandmaster Flash - the message

    Public Enemy - 911 is a joke

    NWA - Fuck the police

Then, since 2000, it's over: only materialism and vulgarity: ass whores, money and gold chains.
As james brown said "talkin loud and saying nothing"

True. Eminem and Jay-Z lyrically wipe the floor with Shakespeare.

its preety simple a dude who freestyles will be trained a 10-000 more like a just writer

you cant compare a orchestral writer with rap wtf
ps for comedians on a stage its sort of similar whenever rap and rap flows are total different topic

is a fraud, near like always in history---Die Lorbeeren kasieren die Anderen nicht die Macher

Uhhhh we've definitely been doing that for ages lol... I used to have a group and that was one of the many ways we would practice to keep each other sharp... Another that I have not seen many others do is we would freestyle 4 bars and the next person had to come in using the last phrase you said to continue and so on. We could do this for hours and make it sound rehearsed but be all off the top.
...And I don't mean pause and think for a sec, I mean literally tag in the next bar by using your last bar. It makes for some hilarious freestyles but keeps you on your toes.

Wow this a terrible hot take lol.
While I agree most of the rap you hear on the radio is trash, there are amazing lyricists out there who will go down in history as some of the greatest poets of all time. Clearly YOU can't appreciate the additional degree of difficulty it takes to not only weave together an amazing metaphor/tell a coherent story, but to also make it fit the timing/flow/rhythm of the beat. I don't know you or your background but what you just said is the equivalent to someone saying all classical music sounds the same, all jazz sounds the same, all country sounds the same, all rock sounds the same, etc. Sometimes you're better off acknowledging that you just don't relate and its not for you.

And last point, I bet Shakespheare couldn't do it to the beat
