Slow GUI compared to Windows, high CPU usage compared to native logic x or bitwig native.
CPU spikes, Kernel Panic with endless beach ball of death until you hit the powerbutton of the mini...

Acustica plugins finally become usable with M1 (I only have 16GB of RAM and it's working smooth, whereas with my Intel shit before I had a lot of heat and lags). M1X will be even more impressive, I feel like with a M1X 64GB of RAM you'll be safe until 2025 running 50 plugins at once... :)

Yep. Mac Mini M1 16GB, 512. I got one about 6 weeks ago once Motu put out drivers for the 16A. It is an insanely good computer for the money. I can run Diva, Zebra 2, Atlas, XO, 6 Native Instruments Komp Kontrol, 20-30 audio tracks, Serum, Retro 20, Izotope Ozone, Nectar, Relays on every channel, Aracde, Maschine full project, ect all in one project and it barely hits 30%. That's running Ableton and everything with Rosetta. Things load super quick. Logic is even better. I get stable recordings at 32 samples, >1ms delay when recording at 48k. Also, now that my friend told me about the terminal code to run 3rd party non apple certified apps.... I can run Roland Cloud suite, Arturia Collection, and almost all the cracked stuff.... and it just works. Occasionally, there is some plugin that doesn't work... But all in all its excellent. And.... since it doesn't look like we are getting the M1X till fall or later... I'm super happy to have a beast of a computer for less than $900. Only glitch is if I turn off the Motu 16A before the computer it causes a restart. But I just don't do that anymore.

It's inevitable. M1 is designed by Apple. It's new, disruptive, includes the GPU and the RAM. There's no way to get a reasonable non-official compatibility.
I love M1's design but Apple is closing the garden more than ever as they say in the tech news.

I don't think that Microsoft will survive without supporting ARM based hardware as well.

The thing is there's no competence for M1 chips for desktop/laptop now. AMD and Intel still are with the x86 architecture.
I certainly hope for someone to make one for PCs. But seems it'll take years at the very least.

Microsoft has been trying to use Qualcomm ARM-based chips for years for its Surface line and even an small laptop I think.
But Qualcom's chips (SnapDragon was?) are years behind [Edited: before was ahead] of the M1.

As a Windows user since 3.0, I guarantee you after you jump to Win 10 you'll be back to Mac M1 faster than you can imagine, lol.

Yea but I swear to god Apple is so cancerous - recently wanted to change my MAC address to test something and they simply disabled it cuz they love to patronize their customers :dont:
If we, the customers, only had democratic elections on things like 32 bit support then the world would be a better place ._.

It's the other way around. Among developers, a small portion uses Mac, and because of Apple policy that considers a Mac VM illegal there are no CI services
As a result, people cannot build and test their software on Mac like how they do for Windows and Linux. With Apple using ARM, now it is harder than ever to support software for Mac.

Apple will soon become a lifestyle company unless it changes its policies.

Looking at Windows for a solution is a joke, Microsoft will not even allow you to protect your online computer with their automatic updates and everything calling out all day long. You'll soon learn while Apple might suck, Microsoft is so much worse in the long run.... trust me I use both and I can't trust any Windows computer connected to the net, it's an absolute shit show.

I love their marketing trick "power per watt" :) WTF?
    In the US it's about 10-20 ¢ / kWh!!!! 10-20 ¢ per 1000 Wh!
Because M1 sucks if they will compare computers using "power per dollar".

So you feel confident saying this as a M1 owner who has compared their PC with their M1?

Or are you just someone who likes to make shit up?

And yes i do have a Mac Mini M1 and a Ryzen PC.

The M1 never gets hot but running the same programs on the PC gets all the fans roaring like a jet engine.

The M1 is the basic version and cost me £699, the PC cost twice as much and doesn't run anything any better than the M1.

Running programs for a test is one thing, working is completely another. Hot? And what? Don't tell your M1 basic 8GB version is overall comparable with Ryzen PC performance. You cannot even upgrade RAM in your basic version! You cannot upgrade GPU, there is no eGPU, no multi-monitor. After every OS upgrade, your M1 will be slower and slower. I owned many arm-based iPhones and iPads (3, 6S, now 7)- you will have the same story. It will be slower because they need you to sell this crap and buy a newer M1S/M2 version every couple of years. Don't blame me, enjoy! It will not last :)
