Hands down the most CPU efficient DAW out, I use it for Mastering and Ableton for writing.
Oversample x4 every plugin in the chain which is not even possible in any other DAW they won't even playback.
Good news to hear about v6.3.

You can download it directly from the MPL ReaPack repository.

The Cockos Dev Team asks not to link to pre-release threads or post RC footage outside of the REAPER pre-release thread and I respect that. But I think I can give a short summary of what is in the v6.30RC7 so far:

    - Embeddable JSFX Loudness meter with TP, RMS Momentary, RMS Integrated, LUFS Momentary with histogram, LUFS Short term, LUFS Integrated and Crest/Loudness Range.
    - The same for the master meter (Exception: LUFS-M histogram)
    - Loudness normalization and analysis during rendering
    - Dry-render Loudness analysis
    - Clipping marks in the waveform display during the rendering process
    - Bug fixes
    - and other stuff for developers

There's still a chance that something won't make it into the official release, but I'm confident. Everything works pretty well already.

Reaper uses the generic material of the OS for these surfaces, buttons etc. This is one of many reasons why Reaper runs so efficiently. Means: If the generic material of your OS looks like crap, it won't look better in Reaper. For example, if you're on Windows and you want Reaper to look a little nicer, maybe start by styling up your OS (I use BigSur Theme for Win10 and I Logic 3.8 for Reaper. Looks very consistent) :winker: Wrote a few lines back and forth with WhiteTie, and he said something like, at Cockos, they're hoping Microsoft will get their stuff together. Not literally transferred, he put it a little more politely.

I have not tested it, but the following should work:
Open the action list, click on "Find shortcut", press the space key, under "Shortcuts for selected action" double click on "Space" and change Scope from "Normal" to "Global".

I'm not a Reaper user and that's impressive. Also, the razor edit is already in three major DAW's but the entire waveform shifting within cut markers is a different process not contained within one simple process in the others, so they nailed the simplicity/convenieince in that too.

I really hope they finally fixed the the (item) Volume slider max amount (it's limited to +12dB), and of course give the option to type in an exact value for this. Both should've been possible right from the start, IMO.

I know what you mean. The same is true for the Media Item Properties and the Media Browser.... But so far nothing new has been done here. The topic came up a few times in the pre-release discussions so maybe in the next release. It would be nice... We will see.

This is a very important technical detail. And one of the main reasons for Reaper to be so fast and, especially, light on RAM and other resources.
Bottom line is you can't have it all.

True, and ultimately it's up to the users to decide how far they want to go to customize the look. I would be really happy if they would structure the menus, windows, fx, etc more ergonomically and clearly. But I also know this would be a major effort, so I don't count on it. It's ok. I can work with it.

Cockos have problems with logical thinking. Make everything skinnable or give the opportunity to use only generic system UI. These palliatives make Reaper look bad.
I'm waiting when they start to use vector or svg interface already, which is the fastest and easy skinnable.

Easier to skin for sure. But slower for the GUI to run.
Tracktion Waveform has a 100% vector GUI, including the fonts. But that makes it slower and less responsive.

Thank you for the details.
It seems all the new things are oriented to mixing and mastering.
    Nothing new for composers...

You still can't change the item volume by keyboard input ;)

if you're using Live, I'd say give it a go.
spend a little time with their tutorial vids and get started.
    the cpu difference is enormous.
    the routing: complete.
    no waiting.
    gui: there are many

    No, unfortunately :(
But I've made some shortcuts to set an item to a certain volume level.
