I would really like to like it, every time I’ve tested I hated it’s look though, my bad..

I basically dropped the hopes of they remaking reapers gui, and it wouldn’t be fair to keep complaining about it I think. Therefore I just ignore it, but who knows someday maybe

Mostly, it will include render/master etc metering - lufs, true peak, js plugin for modern Measurements etc. As well other new stuff, not so much.

That still doesn’t really make sense because there are plenty of themes that make reaper look totally different. I’ve been using Dark Side Imperial for years, besides being the coolest looking gui of any daw I’ve ever seen the workflow is perfect. For me at least

They don't theme the entire app. Until they fix the terrible plugin window, or get rid of it entirely, it's a no go for me.

its perfect for plugin development, since its just so unbelievable fast opening projects or the DAW itself compared to other daws. (i only tested it on my old ultrabook)

Do you spend more time looking at the plugin window rather than doing actual production/mixing/mastering?

I'm joking lol; I do agree though that it's a bit annoying when theme devs don't touch the plugin window, or the piano roll (this is why I personally dislike WT Imperial, the colors they chose for the piano roll are awful). I kinda just ended up making my own piano roll after settling with one of the free Logic themes.

Definitely! Native TP & LUFS M/S/I/DR master meter, new embeddable loudness meter plugin, LUFS normalization render. For my personal workflow this is a game-changer! :) :phunk:

Install, setup audio driver, point to VST folders not in standard locations..et viola!

I personally run Reaper with default skin. Have created a few custom actions for changing editing modes as well as set Track & Mixer to display only what is needed for the way I work.

Reaper is also compatible with 95% of plugins (VST/VST2) out in the wild. Avid has been adding Reaper functionality to Pro Tools lately.

Ok ok, I’ll give it a go again god damn lol .
Anyways I’m glad it’s so popular and I truly love the concept/people behind. So I would love to like it, without any skins etc

Also, to me less is more (simplicity) is a bless. BUT, that “less” has to be splendid! Not just bleak or arid. Otherwise I keep looking

DAWs are a personal thing so there is no right or wrong. It starts with what you do.. I'm mostly "making music" (producing, to be fancy? ;)) and if something feels right leave the final mixing/mastering to others. Tried all major DAWs and S1 almost won me over as an all-rounder. At the time I was still using Ableton (fast sketching) and was curious about Reaper.

And yes, Reaper was a PITA. Had to google every little thing. Kenny was a big help, still it felt everything is upside-down on purpose, lol.. Then I found this video:

I probably changed my mind because of this one. Suddenly Ableton + Reaper made more sense for me than S1. It is exactly because they are so different - together they cover more ground. Using Ableton as my main tool I can be sure Reaper will save my ass if need be.. :)

Perhaps you misunderstand, it has nothing to do with the theme makers. There are parts of the app which cannot be skinned, and you cannot remove the FX sidebar to another part of the UI. It's ugly and jarring and really needs to be fixed to make it more cohesive.

The other issue is if you set the FX window to load in a separate process, it steals keyboard focus, so your keyboard shortcuts for play/record/stop will not be passed through to Reaper until you focus the Reaper window. A few DAWs have this failing and it too needs to be rectified. (note this seems to be an issue generally under MS Windows only)

Agreed about the lack of love for the piano roll. ;)

Isn't there a script for that already for Reaper?
