    It's not a Limiters Shoot-out..

    Limiters are one tool,
Maximizers are another type of tool..

And even to they may be Related, in sum they're very Different type of tools,
and that's why essentially they are Named Differently, and Used Differently.

If I wanted to include Limiters I would, but that's not the goal here.

However you're more than free to start a Limiters thread,
or even a Maximizers vs Limiters thread!

That could also be interesting/productive for many of us..

But alas this is the Maximizers thread lol
    so please stay on topic..

Good call on the Oxford Inflator!
    Completely forgot about this one..

However I cannot add any more contenders to the Poll,
so it will have to be a Mod, or on another occasion..

We could still talk about it tho, it's certainly a Classic,
and like good old Native EQ could be a useful tool, or even secret weapon for many..

"Limiters" and "maximizers" are different in workflow only. Aside of some upwards oddities, they operate on the same principles and do the same thing. "Maximizer" is, in effect, a marketing term, akin to "Paragraphic EQ" if you will, which is a fully parametric EQ with a drawn filter curve. So just to clarify: is this thread about tools, or about marketing?
Also, your previous post gave off the impression that you think iZotope Ozone as a whole is a maximizer, while It's a modular channel strip.
Ozone Maximizer is, fittingly enough, a maximizer. It's one module of many, also can be used on its own.

Dude I'm not going to tell you the Obvious,
and explain to you the all fundamental differences that exist between a Limiter and a Maximizer.

Just like the differences they have with a Multiband Dynamics processor,
or any other type of tool/process..

You've got eyes to see it for yourself.
And there's a plethora of resources that will explain what's the Multiple uses of a Limiter,
things which a Maximizer couldn't do, and it's not designed to do..

Again this is not a Maximizers vs Limiters thread.

Besides, ofc I meant the Maximizer module from Ozone, not the whole program..
Do we really need to specify/explain everything so that you won't misinterpret it?

The limiter limit the sound and leave intact the rest of the audio material. For example if you limit at -3dB everything that goes above this limit is turned down. A maximixer limit the sound at a given value and boost the sound above the specified threshold.

Well since I'm not a Limiters user I got caught off guard, lol
and thought FabFilter L2 was somehow different than other Limiters..

But I think we've already clarified that, even tho they may be Related,
Maximizers work differently and have different Features that set them apart, and are thus used differently/for different purposes..

Just for the lols I'm gonna put an analogy here..

    This is a Bread knife:

    This is a Bread-cutting Machine:
    Therefore..
Is the bread-cutting Machine a Knife?

And that's more or less what's happening here..

For great hi-fidelity limiting Sonnox/Oxford Limiter v3 and for maximizing Sonnox/Inflator and if I have to pick from the list, I selected the MM-1 which is also really good - Only my opinion though.

Some limiters can not only set a ceiling they can have additional features that push the music up to the ceiling which theoretically makes them both a limiter and a maximizer... just saying...

apart from the maximizer vs limiter, I figured that for Luca Protelesi, he separated it into two types of limiting. One for basic limiting, and another for True Peak Limiting.

I watched one of his videos where he use Pro-L 2 for boosting the volume (maximizing) and then limit it to -0.2 but then add TDR Limiter 6 for solely true peak limiting at the end of his mastering chain because according to him, Pro-L 2 doesn't do that (TP limiting) very well.

The thread is interesting and stuff. But for some unknown reason since I saw that ending "FIGHT!" I gathered it's not supposed to be "scientific" topic.
    Yeah. Why?!!
