Every contract i've seen asks if you created all the music alone or contains samples,if yes with who and what samples.
Nobody has ever asked me if using an illegal program.
Then if i am lying all court costs and damages will fall on me,the producer,in confusing contract wording ofcoarse.

There are real live legal music pirates out there and they are not the ones copying, hacking or giving away software.

WHO? Spotify as but one - who did not pay for the hiring of the studio, the hiring of the musicians, the engineer(s), the mastering, did not write any of the tunes, if a CD, did not pay for the artwork, or the printing or the pressing. NADA and they take 99.99% of the profits.
At least the software developers get the price they are asking for it when they do sell some. The musicians who put their music on digital platforms may as well wonder why they bothered copyrighting it intellectually and mechanically in the first place for a mere 0.01% royalties on music they own outright, because someone else is taking nearly everything from doing nothing but hosting.

Worry about using illegal content? Daniel Ek (Spotify) belongs behind bars but nobody has enough balls or money to put him there because thanks to every musician's hard work which he financially exploited, and yes, he stole the profits of, he's a billionaire. however since nobody is Forcing anyone to publish on Spotify, the most he could be accused of is Abusive practices?

Also is worth mentioning musicians/artists didn't have it much better before Spotify/internet streaming,
only a handful minority were really/very Successful, like now, but the rest were pretty much Invisible..

Not totally sad to see the discographic industry Sink,
specially when technology/computers have democratized Music/art production so much..

Alas this also means less resources/time can be put on Production,
so the overall level of Technical and Artistic Quality may have reduced considerably..


Spotify may be a soul/life-sucking Succubus, but it May give Exposure in exchange..
