I'm not too savvy on what can be done on this but I would love it if Studio One 5.2 Pro (and Cubase Pro) could be cracked in such a way that it allows users of Windows 7 to use them. I'm currently on Windows 10 but honestly I like 7 much more for reasons I don't want to get into. Can this be done?

Short answer to your question: No! Because "PreSonus - Studio One 5 - System Requirements": Windows 10 (64 bit only)

There's been a few plugins cracked so they also would run in Windows 7. But only a few. No DAW that I know of.

best you can do is use Reaper then - it doesn't care which OS version you use and it just works

Everything is possible in this world, but at what cost..

Supposing the DAW doesn't rely on Windows Services/features Exclusive to Windows 10,
but on classic/legacy or generic Windows stuff for its functioning..

I guess an uber-cracker could transfer the complete tree of Files copied/modified by the DAW upon installation,
and manually create all the Registry Keys created/modified/necessary for the program to work, etc..

Try it and then I don't know, pray to the gods.. :dunno:

If you're super Lucky it may even work..
But the moment it calls for an unexisting service,
or if anything needs to be registered internally on the OS beyond that level, you're screwed..

There's always a workaround tho, a true uber-carcker would do it,
I just have no idea beyond that..

Still I remember 20 years ago there were some Ins/Uninstallation Manager type software,
that completely Monitored the installation of any program,
so that when you uninstalled it really deleted all the files and completely restored the system for good, etc..

If those programs could Monitor and Log all changes made to the system back then,
I guess you could do it with modern software too.

Maybe there's even dedicated software for that, who knows..

I remember those programs too. I have thought about looking for a current one many times but never did. I think Webroot and Norton both had install monitors, like you said about 20 years ago.

I think it was Webroot that also had an interesting program back then that allowed you to see a map of the world and it showed you exact locations, IP addresses, physical addresses of computers that would ping your computer and the names of the people or companies that owned them, along with some other features, it was really interesting.

Cubase 10.5.20 Pro runs on windows 7 just fine. Indeed, I purposefully didn't upgrade to 11 because of the requirement to switch to windows 10. Beside's, there were/are no 'essential' new features in 11 (for me) to lure me to 'upgrade' anyway.

Also, i see no value in windows 10, just cynical MS BS.

There was a reported issue in the Cubase forum that the Video Export function of Cubase 10.5 would not work on W7. Have you tried that?

    Just for the lols..

You could always install the Last version of the DAW compatible with W7,
and then just copy the New version Files over the old..

    Like a Wonky Intra-Aural Silicone-filling Operation,
and then just put lots a Duck tape so it doesn't spill out..

IOW check there's nothing crucial missing on the Registry, etc..

(also if you had to Register something Internally on the OS,
Powershell can do crazy stuff, if you know wtf you're doing ofc..)

If the new Version of the DAW it's Structurally equal/similar to the Old,
it may even work.. or who am I fooling, it WILL work lol

I mean Schroedinger's cat couldn't care less to pee/not pee ITB but he became famous AF anyways..

For my musical needs I have everything I require in order to create and perform on Windows7 , I won't lick the sh*t from microsoft's ass just to make them happy, I can stay on 7 until I die. Updates aren't essential for me, I us it offline anyways and everything works exactly as I need. I have a spare PC for my net and general online needs, besides quite a few programs that say win 10 only do work on 7.
