That's really interesting, thanks for the tip. I'm going to try some Room IR's on my next writing session and see how I gel with it.

Interesting idea. Might be useful for the people who are looking for an "amp in the room"-like feel.

If you'll find yourself lost in thousands of Ownhammer impulse responses, I suggest to check also a company called York Audio (they are available on the Sister Site as well). In my opinion, they are even better sounding and are definitely much easier to wrap your head around.

Exactly. Looking back I guess I was always trying to create that sound at home too. I used short "plate" type reverbs to give my sounds a certain feeling of space and smooth "afterglow", but it's just not the same at all. The actual room algorithms I tended to hate. Just always sounded weak and artificial unless run very dry.

Once I started experimenting with room IR's I've found my whole approach to tweaking amp sims changed too. Not only did they give me the sound I wanted but because they tend take so much of that harshness away I can set the amp and pedals to crazy settings I would naver have considered remotely usable before. And I'm using pedals, amps and cabs I thought I hated.

Yes. Though for me it is often the other way around; the room sound is the more dominant one. You can also do all kinds of interesting things with the signal balance and how exactly you feed the room IR. I've been playing around with dynamic EQ's to control boominess and experimenting with simultaneously expanding and ducking the aux channel signal pre and post room IR effect.
