Just something to scratch Lenny's itchy head. :winker:

    [1] Information patterns exist everywhere in the Universe;
and some physicists believe 'information' (as distinct from physical stuff) IS the fundamental layer of reality.

[2] Audio sensations (qualia) seem to exist ONLY within brains (alien or otherwise)
i.e., the Universe outside of brains is actually entirely silent!

[3] 'Somehow' brains utilise oscillatory information patterns to generate audio sensations
and those brains (arbitrarily) classify some of those oscillatory patterns as music
(arbitrarily = entirely subjective and/or agreed upon by social consensus)

[4] The Nobel prize of Nobel prizes awaits anyone who can explain point [3]
i.e., how the f#@k does consciousness work!

    Good luck!

p.s. all entirely serious except the bit about the itchy head. :winker:

WOW - I can just look this question and see that to have chance of answering it, a person would have to begin their career at 18 years going into University wanting to do Medical Science and wanting to answer this question, then hand it over to their offspring who may or may not have to hand it to theirs in the assumption each followed the other into the same career path. The sheer amount of investigation and new identification into energy-ions-brain functions- hearing - audio waves/sine, conversion from whatever is found into thought patterns-quantifying it by being able to invent a machine that can show more than dopamine or cortex vibration change - etc etc etc is mind-boggling. To do that, I think they'd pretty much have to work out how to create life from scratch without stem cells or cloning or any other proposed nanobyte computerised theory.

Part of me cannot help but think if we were supposed to know that, we would, or we are a long way from being evolved enough to not abuse it.

Well imo not really, considering we are the life you speak of. Just realise that we already are what you describe. No need to invent something new.
And the experiential aspect of learning about the above comments you quoted starts within.
If you wish to study us, you have to realise that you are both the experiment and the experimenter.
So it's a lot easier to go forward just being, and learn and be shown as we go along.
I'm not anti-science at all and in fact I apply the precepts specifically to the scenario of us being a journey worth investigating.
It's just that there is only one way to find the path to start the journey.
Otherwise it's like the Auden quote:
"Life is, for each man, a cell whose walls are mirrors."
Which, ironically, is also kind of what we find anyway! In the macro! lol.
Before being spat out at the start again!
As we all know I'm sure, that route doesn't work but we are all free to keep trying. lol. Eh, Steve?
Sometimes people that question confirmation bias regards another's insight through personal means are often the type to suffer confirmation bias themselves regards their own failed investigations.
Just throwing that one out randomly to whoever wants the cap to fit them.

This is a topic going off-topic and needs to be in a PM.

Being able to play music is a gift and one that should never be taken for granted. Power is an illusion no matter how much money or status quo anyone has. Nobility is earned it is not a birthright. We bring nothing but a naked body into this world and die at best with only the clothes on our back.

Music is very personal to us all , we all follow a unique path with it .
    ( its so vast )
The only thing that matters is that we do what we love with music .

Music speaks for itself, there's no need for questioning.
