Today is Wednesday, thats two days, compared to instant transaction before. Many things can happen in two days, like the start and end of the super league, lol.
Not many choices really, they are forcing us into a corner like any modern monopolist.

Not instantaneous like PayPal of course, but I was thinking that payment would take four or five days, so two days was less than I expected.

Forcing people to use this system is a different matter, one that nobody should be happy with.

E-bay fees make it worthless for a seller anyway. Fuck their cash grab. Reverb's too. Plenty of other ways to advertise and sell.

No, just like stated in the linked community thread, it was July 15th, 2020.
    From the email (April 2020):
Maybe you don't mean eBay Inc. but a different company? :dunno:

Why does it said "July 15, 2020" then in the official mail that was sent last year?

In 2020 there was also a decision by ebay that was important, but the topic will apply to the ebay decision from July 2021, which is a major disadvantage for many buyers and sellers.

New Ebay rules cause customer frustration

In the course of the year the online marketplace Ebay wants to introduce a new payment processing system and increase its own commission at the same time. Consumer protection is critical of this.

The Internet auction house Ebay is changing its payment methods, this process causes unrest. As the company announced, it would like to have control over payment processing in the future and is also increasing the commission. So far, Ebay has kept ten percent of the pure purchase price for itself.

In the future, however, the commission will also be allocated to the flat-rate shipping costs. This can be chosen independently by the sellers up to certain upper limits. So dealers still have a profit margin here. That should now change: Ebay plans to raise the ten percent commission on the total sum of the purchase price and all other fees in the future. Ebay had already introduced a similar model for this in 2015, but this was withdrawn a year later.

So far, after a successful auction, it has been possible to determine how the payment will be made between the dealer and the buyer. Whether by bank transfer, the payment service provider PayPal or - if the goods are picked up directly anyway - also in cash on site. Basically anything is possible as long as the buyer and seller agree. In the future, buyers and sellers will have to store their bank details on Ebay. Whether credit card or direct debit from the current account, there will be no way around Ebay in the future.

Ebay says: “Buyers are increasingly demanding electronic payment methods that most private sellers cannot offer on their own.” The new payment processing will then be so broad that payments will also be possible via Apple Pay and Google Pay. Paypal, the payment processor that was once founded by Ebay and then sold, will also be integrated into the system.

Meanwhile, in internet forums one can read of dissatisfied users of the platform who are not happy about this interference with the autonomy of the users. On the one hand, the new commission rule has met with criticism from dealers. On the other hand, the new payment processing is complained.

Mathias Hufländer from the Bremen Consumer Center is also concerned about the process, but inquiries about the “payment problem” have still been received. Hufländer suspects that this is in all likelihood due to the schedule that Ebay set to introduce the innovation - gradually until the end of this year. “The inquiries will probably increase from summer onwards,” emphasizes the consumer expert.
Ebay wants to make its online platform more secure, wants to be able to track transaction routes better. The company says: "With its payment processing, the online marketplace now offers private sellers a simple, uniform user experience and optimizes processes by creating a central location where they are sold and paid for."

Hufländer observes the development critically: “Then why did you sell PayPal back then? It seems as if a second PayPal is being created. "
The payment processor PayPal was integrated into the Ebay group in 2002, enabled the immediate transaction of smaller amounts of money and at the same time protected buyers and sellers from fraud. This trustee system has been working successfully to this day, but was split off from Ebay in 2015 and floated on the stock exchange. “At the end there is a vote with the feet. Time will tell whether Ebay has done itself a favor with the decision, ”says Hufländer. The Ebay classifieds portal, which has become the market leader in Germany since 2009 and, according to the Online Research Association (AGOF), the online offer with the widest reach, has already led to a relocation of the auction system. Last year it became known that Ebay had sold the classifieds portal to the Norwegian internet company Adevinta for 9.2 billion US dollars.

    This
    a) seems to be true for Germany only (so like I suspected, it's not the global eBay Inc. but the German eBay Marketplace GmbH)
    b) has no information about July 22th.
    c) seems to be May 28th anyway:

The only place you can find this exact statement (atm) is this very thread: https://www.google.com/search?q="New+eBay+terms+and+conditions+will+apply+from+July+22nd,+2021."

Btw., it will be very hot tomorrow: 112°F (45°C)...

Well that's a surprise - misinformation and disinformation. Thank you Olaf for the correction.

Value Added Tax regulations in Germany
As of 1 July 2021, it will be necessary to provide a valid German VAT identification number (VAT ID) instead of a certificate according to §22f UStG (Value Added Tax Act).

Since 2019, eBay can be held liable for VAT payments that have not been made by its sellers, and eBay has therefore been obligated to require a certificate according to §22f UStG from every commercial seller. As of 1 July 2021, it will be necessary to provide a German VAT identification number (VAT ID) instead of the certificate.

Ok, but this again is for Germany only, is a different topic (has nothing to do with managed payments), and affects only merchants ("business" sellers, not private sellers). :dunno:

    Allright !

    At a glance
With the new payment processing, you can sell and get your money in the same place. Buyers can pay with credit card, direct debit, PayPal, Apple Pay (only via the eBay app and eBay mobile website), Google Pay and Klarna Sofortüberweisung and are protected by eBay.

Thank you! Gosh, this was a worry when I saw it.
But at least I am still protected by PayPal as a seller.
Because it's really them that protects private sellers, not eBay.

Yeah I was pissed at first, but it seems to be working out alright.
What REALLY pisses me off is that now they've started charging
a damn fee just for ending your auction early......BLOODSUCKERS!

Here in the UK, from my memory, that has always been penalised in some way. I don't think it's a new thing for us anyway.

@Olymoon Hi. I'm not consistently getting the dropdowns from profile and alerts, and I have to go into profile to logout.
And it's been happening since the change with the rates reveal. And sometimes it now does the old rates reveal and gets stuck and I have to refresh.
Thought you should know. Wondered if I'm the only one.

Ah it may be this old browser I use. Only it knows all my passwords!
Oly, is there I way I can find out or reset my password for here?
