    It would be awesome if we finally get a DAW Control Surface which use a custom protocol and not that limited outdated ancient MCU protocol

    Excuse my interjection. Due to my and countless others' negative experiences, I suggest avoiding purchasing anything from Stam Audio. His wait times and customer service are abysmal. For outboard gear, with zero wait time, and made in USA (vs. Chili), checkout Audioscape. my 2 cents on that.

    There are various comparatives between SSL replica on youtube, here is one



    What I notice about Audioscape is that they too build very limited batches and there are waiting lists (everything is currently sold out).
    The only SSL replicas that are always in stock are Warm audio

    They do have pre-order lists. However, every Wednesday and Saturday @ 800pm EST, they sell products in stock. Checkout their FaceBook page.

    I had absolutely no problems with stam. I knew when I bought that there would be a wait and so far I am very happy with my 3 units. If you need something quickly for a specific project, stam is the wrong place to go, but for a device that I will use for the rest of my life, what's a few months wait?

    On topic:
    What I would rate very positive about the ssl controller is the vu meter. Definitely a useful unique selling point. Would love to see such a feature on a less proprietary controller. Unfortunately, too few manufacturers use a live parameter for their meters and the curves vary with each plugin developer. Therefore it will probably remain pure wishful thinking.

    when you take into account that normally 2 plug-ins is all you need to mix audio - dynamics and eq - those controllers totally make sense.

    That's gotta be every plugin, yeah? lol.
