Buddha received Enlightenment from the description of a musical instrument.

It is a single string instrument

    He was told

    - If you tighten the string too much, it will snap, and if you leave it too slack, it will not play.

I guess what I'm trying to say is Less is More

Siddhartha was told this by the Ferryman

I have also heard a story where he was Tuning one under a Tree when he became Enlightened

'OM' is just 1 syllable sonic vibration and takes you places.

I Don't want to be one of those collectors that go to auctions to buy synths or paintings or coins or whatever

I'm still coming off the VST addiction

Its battle of Time for me. Reading new manuals vs. pleasure of making music

i do not think producing a "modern" sound should be oneĀ“s aim.

and in the next 30 years it will be more diffcult to sound better than 30 years before than 30 years ago or 60 years ago.

future progression in software and hardware will be more in the fields of price tag/availability, comfort, and maybe automation/workflow but no more in sound quality.

    same here.

i download warez mostly to collect them, and i own more legally than i ever used.

and in the end i program most things on my own anyway.

anything is posible. if you commit to do the work
some people have had longer breaks from doing music than 10years and some of them are doing their best music after thier long break.

but maybe the question that needs a answer, before all the minute details, is "why do i want to do music?" or something along those lines.

Well, to begin with music's not a competition to be honest with you.

But for myself, as long as my guitar still plays I can make music, new tech be damned.

Until my ilok is broken. Modern sound characteristics are only slightly dependent on the plugins used, but how you use them.

I don't need plugins, make my own samples and I don't watch tutorials. Microphones, preamps and compressors, guitars and percussion stuff is all I need to keep myself happy and in the pink of music....maybe one reverb plugin if allowed.

So true. You only need 4 corona-free musicians and tons of time.

I have all but Piano, used to have 90's Technics electric piano but it hurts my back (and my friends) because it needs at least 6 fit men to move it. So I gave it away to someone random 10 years ago. Now I could really use a good Piano. hmm

Even better if the Piano comes with Alicia Keys as bonus.

I'm still extracting and auditioning samples I either downloaded or got sent back in December and January. even after getting rid of the usual junk, I'm not sure I could even run out of stuff to use. I like to check out all the new plugins to see what they do, but I really try not to use them until I understand what they are really doing and why I am trying to learn them enough to use them instead of some other plugin that does the same thing. I think with some more/extra work and effort though, I could make tracks using nothing but the stock Logic plugins and get away with it. no tutorials would suck.

    Utilising the lowest common denominator

Backdrop: An unbalanced nutjob gets in power, drops a nuclear bomb, the electromagnetic radiation and pulses incapacitate all white goods, cars, electricity, phones, Internet, computers and all automation globally. This is because one drops, it's assured most if not all bombs will drop. Humankind is quite stupid really. To the point:

Real musicians who can play will still find a way to create music, it is in their nature. A real engineer will be what the title was created for and design something that does not require electricity to record music (other than notation), that is, audibly recallable.
Music survived and advanced without any technology whatsoever. Music will keep advancing due to the skills and creativity of people who do not get caught up in the latest fad and hoo-hah who seek to cross boundaries in creation, art, beauty and imagination. The same applies to audio engineers who do it for the advancement of their field, not for glory, or ego, or financial reward.

The answer? If you are good, you already can see the result before you start it and the tools are that, tools. The tools enhance your skills, they do not define them. So people who are good will survive just fine without most of the tools or Internet access.
