I like MalwareBytes (premium). I used to use Kaspersky. I got cold feet when the speculation of them selling info and/or spying or whatever was raised.. so now I've abandoned it. It was quite good at the time though. MalwareBytes has been very good.

In addition to that, I run CCleaner every so often.

Isn't it funny when people use Antivirus for web browsing and downloading legit stuff just to turn it off when installing pirated stuff because it doesn't work with AV enabled?

Kaspersky in Russia has a reputation for devouring system resources, many refused to use it, all programs transmit data, and there is no way to escape it, some browsers have built-in antivirus protection such as Yandex, Kinza, since this site is for musicians it is wiser to remove all unnecessary antivirus, Brandmauer Windows and other background crap, or get a budget laptop for online adventures.

releases from V.R are easy to pass, but the keygen from R2R antiviruses run to it like chickens.

Just like people taking their masks off at restaurants while they eat. Can science explain why people are immune to Covid while they are eating?

That is not true, it shows how conditioned you have been by big tech criminals to believe in these fantasies so you stay connected to their surveillance "cloud". You can block your AV from the internet and download definition updates manually if it is a reputable AV. There is always a way to download the files manually, either with an updater that doesn't phone home or directly. https://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/sortname/definition_updates.html

Ok, then why fans of the Apple brand everywhere write that they do not need antivirus they have the safest IOS, MAC OS while there were leaks of data of famous personalities from the Apple cloud, viruses for these systems exist why they do not put antivirus? Or for example the owners of Linux? If you go deeper into the same messengers FB, WhatsApp openly steal and sell data from all popular systems Windows, Mac, Android, Ios, while everyone uses and no one complains.

Kaspersky AVs have a free utility to download updates (with Kaspersky AV off or just from other PC) and then update offline the AV itself.
I've been doing it this way for several years now.

i use iobit malwarefighter pro! i love it. every time it detects something (like keygens) a pop up is showing and by one click you can choose between erase, quaratine or add to whitelist. in case of a keygen i just click add to whitelist and all is fine. its so easy and convinient.
if someone wants the pro version, send me a pm and i will send you a link where you can get it : )

No, that is not at all what I was talking about...I see Wikipedia has a write up on it. And yes, I know Wikipedia has lots of misinformation, but it was actually big news at the time, and reading through this now, this is exactly what I remember from when it was in the news:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaspersky_bans_and_allegations_of_Russian_government_ties

So for me, I just decided that rather than worry about whether the allegations of it being used by the Russian gov't spying were true or not, I'll just drop it for something else. They wouldn't be giving a crap about what I'd be doing, but I wasn't confident in that if they were (allegedly) spying on US gov't officials that they weren't doing some other shenanigans. They have since (supposedly) put safeguards in place to prevent employee prying eyes from doing said shenanigans, but they lost my confidence already, so I'm on to different software. It's too bad, because I actually did really like Kaspersky. But I am happy with MalwareBytes (premium for the rt a/v)

Russian business that makes money lives in the U.S. and Europe, World of Tanks, Telegram, Kaspersky and many others, all over the country Microsoft, Apple even the government uses them quietly all can be tracked, Well this is politics, not about the software.

I find this whole Kaspersky subject to be funny cuz:

1 - People stating this and that as a fact even tho no one here presented any proof Kaspersky is actively tracking or selling customer's info, all there is is a bunch of rumors based on a bunch of tabloids that are based on the fact that US government (Trump) agencies stopped using third party AV like Kaspersky and the whole NSA drama. An official statement for that matter was never made by the gov (I wonder if its due to the fact that the whole issue was basically NSAs personnel fault), but it's quite interesting and there's much more into it that people often miss: Preliminary results of the internal investigation into alleged incidents reported by US media | Kaspersky official blog

Kaspersky: Yes, we obtained NSA secrets. No, we didn’t help steal them | Ars Technica

Exclusive: How a Russian firm helped catch an alleged NSA data thief- POLITICO

2 - Well... then, if Kaspersky is doing it I guess other AVs are doing it as well, aren't they? What stops them? It must be profitable! Or maybe, just Russians because... Russia? Even tho Kaspersky isn't located in Russia anymore... We know that Trend Micro and Norton have headquarters in the US, for example, and that in that case we have actual proof that national agencies do indeed spy on people (Snowden), so they must the stealing all your data, right? KGB, NSA, chose your paranoia. Everything is possible with rumours.

3 - BONUS: Defender is crap.

Trend is Chinese (taiwan china, not mainland, but many people don't consider that much of a difference). Norton's HQ is in the US, but the software is developed entirely in India.

Afaik Trend is Japanese, not Chinese (Trend Micro - Wikipedia), and I haven't found any information regarding Norton being developed in India. Regardless of how you look at it, without any actual evidence that can corroborate suspicious and hate I don't see the point of creating such a fuzz over it. Especially if you're not an actual company or someone really trying to be anonymous. Not that one shouldn't be suspicious about big tech companies but just repeating rumors as if they were actual facts can be quite misleading and even refrain people from actual research about the topic, I believe.
