Edit: Doesn't work on Win 10. Neither Reaper or Ableton can scan the vst2 or vst3 files and Blue Cat Patchwork just crashes when trying to launch them.

Crashes on S1 and RX

 

No, they have their own authorization. You use the username and password to your Ampeg website account. This is what the manual says:
•Insert the SVT Suite plugin on a track within your DAW project (see “Quick Start” on page 6). You'll initially see the license authorization screen.
• If You Have Already Purchased an SVT Suite License - You'll be prompted to authorize the computer for this license—please skip ahead to “Authorizing your Computer” on page 3.
• If You Have Not Yet Purchased an SVT Suite License - You can either choose to purchase now (see the next section), or start a 15-day free trial (see “To Use SVT Suite in Trial Mode” on page 4). Once the trial expires, it is necessary to purchase and then authorize the computer with which you will be using SVT Suite, or the plugin will no longer be function.

For me, the software crashes before I've even gotten there

I think they should have tested it a bit more before releasing. Reading the comments on their YT videos, it seems like a lot of people have the same problem.

 

I love Ampeg and get super excited about new bass amp sims too because that's all I can work with currently anyways but it seems you all are having a ton of issues with it so I'm going to wait until later to bother with it.

the only thing bad in that video is.. reverse headstock bass..

Who's the programmer?

 

Doesn't say, so it's definitely not brainworx at least since Dirk always makes sure that it's clear if the plug-in is made by them!

They are still very good plug-ins! Love the B-15N, cranking the overdrive channel sounds amazing. Also, so far we can't tell if this suite is better or not since no one seems to be able to try it out. If this is a sign of how the quality of the coding is, maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up

So many Line6 related (log-in, firewall). So the coder might from Line6.

Yep, seems to be Line 6! It even has the same problem as Helix on my system LeadGuitar.MX. on the sister site figured out that it has to do with having external drives connected at the same time as running either Ampeg Suite or Helix Native. I hope they have a fix for this because I need my drives with my drum libs, samples and impulses connected so if there is no fix, both Ampeg and Helix are useless to me.

 

Tiny experience & feedback
Using... W7(x64) - Reaper - VST versions of plugins (not VST3)
No authorisation involved - just installed and started using.
Both Ampeg SVT Suite and Line 6 Helix Native are working fine.

Note: have spent only 15 mins exploring these (so no opinions yet) but no glitches at all so far.

 

Tested the Ampeg from sister. I like the added back panel features, the sag control etc. Also love the cabinet section, the cabinets (factory IR) included sound so good, 2 of those and a mic room sim. Can also add own IR. It covers pretty much everything you need for a "industry-standard" bass tone. Also it sound different and has a little more depth compared to Ampeg sim in the Helix which I think is a pretty old algo. Used to own few Ampeg from 8x10 to SVT 2 and few combos. Minus the punch in the face from a real 8x10, overall the vst sounds similar.

 

In my case, unchecking the Windows sandbox from the Windows feature solved the problem.

Cause:
Upon examination, I found that HELIX Native had a similar problem.
This issue occurs when Windows does not correctly assign identification numbers to all connected storage.
The cause was the virtual storage that was automatically generated when the Windows sandbox feature was turned on.
