Hey, perhaps monitoring through different platforms ie: headphones, your phone, car etc.. if you can? I agree, the members giving you feedback not only helps you but all of us in one way or the other. Props to them and the community here, love it! Props to you as well and everyone that posts their tunes and skills for all to dissect, it's not an easy pill to swallow as egos and feelings are on the line.

Regarding that last track you posted I thought the first five words of the vocal opening sounded great but then they instantly got buried behind the mix when the rest of the tracks kicked in. If you decide to give it another shot try some parallel compression on the vox or muti-band comp, automation and EQ shelving/gain staging the tracks.

Ps. If you haven't seen this, dude is hilarious and on point FWIW! Remember this isn't directed at you or the board members, just so we're clear lol!

I like hearing the guitars wide. Original sounds less sibilant on the vocals and your bass guitar is quite jumping through the mix around the solo part compared to the original. I didn't listen to the whole thing just chorus and a bit after. But I'd work on that bass guitar and sibilance.

Bros, any difficulties with quoting? Just mark the text and click on
    1. 'Quote', then it's buffered and you need to click on 'Insert Quotes' at the bottom or
    2. 'Reply', then it's inserted into a new post.

    Hey MrZed,

Another Brazilian here, so I hear you man. These are indeed hard times for anyone who makes a living out of the entertainment business. A lot of my friends are unemployed as well.

Anyway, for the monitoring issue, I'd recommend getting at least a good pair of headphones to use as an extra reference, preferably one which is profiled in Tonebooster's Morphit (my favorite software for this kind of headphone compensation stuff. It just gets the job done). It helps a lot.

There's also DearVR MONITOR, which can work really well in some situations, coupled with good headphones and Morphit. Its room simulation sounds very natural and pleasant, at least to my old ears.

Also, there's a very simple plugin from Audified called Mixchecker, which just loads a bunch of different popular reference IRs, which can be really helpful, in my experience.

I also like Izotope's Tonal Balance control as a general reference tool. Don't trust it too much, though. It doesn't work in all scenarios. Use it with care.

To sum up, if your room and monitors aren't good enough, get as many references as you can in the box. If you can make a mix sound nice in 4 or 5 difference referencing tools, it will probably sound good enough for most people.

    Good luck brother!

If you are referring to my "joke" in the other thread about using an Ozone preset for mastering? I wasn't joking. If someone is having problems mixing I definitely wouldn't let them master. That's just reality. A mastering engineer is the final finisher that picks up on all the problems you've been creating.
Mix is sounding better but still prefer the original.

That is the worst reference plugin ever.

Very true. Keep at it. Are you using saturation and parallel compression? Most of the mixedwiththemasters vids I've watched use saturation and parallel compression.
Some also use three reverbs, room, hall, plate and a slap delay.
