I don't think your problem is your monitoring if you have an exact mix to reference to.
Normally we are referencing to different tracks in different keys, tones. This should be a lot easier to mix with an actual reference.
The original mix still sounds more full.

Would one of the more experienced engineers be able to point out why the vocals in the original mix have more depth and how he can achieve it so we can all learn please. Original chorus vocal at 1.20 sounds like it sits better in the mix but still keeps the highs in place and has depth. Or is that because the side vocals are louder than the mid in the chorus. The sibilant area sounds more forward is that just from the side vocals?

Edit. You need to chill out on your drums as well as other things. But just looking at the vocal.

In the ori mix the vocals in verse are better audible and are probably less (downward) compressed and more leveled (or upward compressed).
In the chorus they seem to have additional saturation (maybe a different track) and have a higher FX level (reverb/dly). Additionally, the centered vocs are lower and the backings are louder. While these levels in the chorus are a matter of preference, the more upfront sound just sounds better.

Also, I'm missing the main synths in the remix.

Again, I recommend to get close to the ori sound first and then adjust it to taste.
I also would've preferred an improvement of the first mixes and not a new one every two days.

But the bottom line is that the mixes are slowly getting better.

Here's a link to engineers who all 'apparently' worked with Christine Aguilera. Most have samples of their mixes.
In the style most are on the money. The point of this being there are hundreds of thousands of unemployed engineers and musicians now, many who have a lot of skills and also, many with large credits to their names. The successful ones? Depends how you measure success, whether in money or in achieving what you set out to do. I'm discouraging nobody. The point is there is a benchmark in both music and engineering and it is important to consider that meeting that benchmark and especially having style adaptation makes all the difference.
For clarity, the lady named Heather (not her real name) has it. Yet again, that all comes down to opinion.

Bro, you need to take more time. One example, compare 1:38 ori and your mix. Where's the solo, where are the rhythm guitars?

You got a reference plugin yet bruv. I think if you just match the volumes of the elements to the original mix first before you do anything might help.

Not to be rude but - were you hammered when you mixed this because leaving out the solo like that is just weak man! I get that you are trying to add air and room to breath but posting that as a good mix wasn't a great decision. If I was a client I wouldn't be for long if that's what you sent me.

In my mixing and playing career one thing I have learnt is never do it drunk! Sure, a few sociables but not drunk. Seriously, it might be "fun" and "you" think it sounds awesome but it never does! Especially if you are just learning, sorry! By no means give up, keep going but put the bottle down at least until you've had a "hit record" lol. Peace!

Weird i did not get an alert when you tagged me.

    anyway short answer "frequency masking".

long answer,he's boosting "eq & compression" for the other elements and not taking care of the vocals, do not forget the fact that vocals are single mono signal, and other elements are stereo, i'm no scientist but in my experience, mono signals always tend to be "lost easier" in the mix compared to stereo sources, that why they need more care, you might need to apply eq, on both clashing signals trying to make them work a little bit better together, or maybe compression or sidechaine comrpession if they're both accupying the same space, or as i do a little bit of both plus i usually take it a little further, as to me personally one of signs a mix IS a good mix is seperation between elements...

if you don't take a step back, take a listen to each element in your mix and see if you can actually distinguishes them, then you're probably doing something wrong, also what i usually do, is loop the song, stand up, just stay in different places in my room doing other random stuff, and taking a listen, this usually helps alot in trying to take listen as a consumer... another way is disabling elements one by one, if you suddenly disable electric guitars, and suddenly your mix came to life and all other elements are just there doing good, then your problem is electric guitar, sometimes it is other elements sometimes vocals are the problem and you need another approach...

i suggest you google pultec vocal trick, try that on your vocals, plus slap back delays also helps alot in defining vocals but please be careful.

    good luck.

ps: i tried mixing the song you're working on "MR0905_ChrisDurban_Full" and i can not tell you how mush i just hate it, bad elements, bad fxs, weird out of tune synths, it is just dreadful to work with, but i'll finish it and post the results.

TBH, I have difficulties to imagine that your mixes sound as good as the cambridge-mt mixes, even in your room and with your monitors.
