wonderful how Bitwig grow over the years! No wonder Ableton bought Cycling'74 in 2017 to hard implement Max into Live, when The Grdi was around the corner. Also on my to try list.

Somebody played around with the grid already? How is it?

If you want something similar for any DAW, just wait for VCV Rack For Daws. It's not quite the same, but I'd wager it's better at large because of how development for VCV works - whereas The Grid development isn't open source. By integrating through the VST protocol, you have all the same benefits except one: you can't directly interface it from the DAW screen; you still have to interface with it as any other VST. So either you map parameters into your DAW or send midi to it etc.

But simultaneously it contains much, much more than The Grid possibly ever will. Some modular developers even develop VCV versions of their modules into VCV for free. Most notably, Mutable Instruments.

The key disadvantages are that many modules still do not support poly-cables (meaning that polyphonic implementation for such devices requires a bit of work and is clumsy) and also for now there is no way to abstract segments of your patches into sub-patches or stuff like that - which means that in bigger patches, lot of screen estate is taken by unnecessary things.

There's also Reaktor, but I can't recommend that anymore. Gotta wait for VCV.

One of many things that is cool about having instruments/Grid in Bitwig's environment, besides continuity if that's your thing, is Voice Stacking. Check it out.

It's also possible to bring VSTi's into the grid and do this:

"hi, this is the voice stacking feature of Bitwig this is the fancy name of unison which allows you to play several voices simultaneously with different parameters, normally it used with detuning, stereo spreading etc. in the video above I've played with the other parameters Grid allows you to side-chain outer sound sources so different voices(or voice stack) can be created with them too"

I use Logic, but I know Ableton and Bitwig well enough to get work from them into Logic. I have been thinking about learning one of them for production work, but had not really decided which to invest the time into. Your linked Polarity video has 99% persuaded me. Thanks.

none of this is very compelling(comparison wise), for the simple fact
that bitwig IS grid and grid IS bitwig.
THAT is the selling point of bitwig, total intergration!
VCV rack for daw cant compare because its (going to be) a plugin as you stated.

You cant under estimate the Power of a fully functioning power of a Sequencer
to a plugin. Because the Sequencer can integrate these plugins but not the other way around.
Except for Reason and AudioGL who are also plugin and sequencer/daw in one.
    If i´m not mistaken
