After 6 nominations they finally entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Kraftwerk, Gil Scott Heron and Charley Patton will get the Early Influence Award which is in my point of view the most important category.

Well deserved.

Gil Scott-Heron deserves to be there as well.

Not that I personally give much value to the R&R HoF but it's nice to see recognition to these artists.

Kraftwerk - The Robots (1978)

 

Couple of days ago , can't really remember if I was searching for a sample's origin or something, I ended up reading about Kraftwerk. What intrigued me was that although they were pioneers at the time, it took them around 5 years to get some recognition from the world

 

The first KW albums were more experimental Krautrock kind of music, not exactly hit material. They hit popularity with Autobahn (the song, the album is still a bit weird in places).

I still like the early stuff though it's almost a different band, but then again the kraut stuff always worked for me.

 

It is great that Kraftwerk is in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Kraftwerk should have entered in the performance category. The performance category is the main category. Tina Turner,The Go Go"s,Foo Fighters and more are in hall in that category

 

Yes, maybe it is...but I think, the "Early Influence" category is much more important caus it tells more about your importance to music history at all.

Even the greatest stars, discover themselves in the Rock N Roll hall of fame.

 

Not a single synthpop/new wave/futurepop/electro/ebm/industrial act not grateful to Kraftwerk...
Remember that these guys were playing synths as a main and only instrument when no one else was...
