    Salve, muito massa mano, humildade é tudo
    Ficou dahora mas a voz ta muito aguda... Não sei se foi de proposito mas eu acho que seria dahora dar um pouco mais de low-end pros vocals... Talvez um ssl channel com um ganho no low-end (100~500hz)

    Mas eu DEFINITIAMENTE prefiro as drums da sua track do que as da original

    I used to work in a studio with console room ,mastering room ,but now im working at home with hs5 ,no midfields no farfields i have to relearn mixing in my homestudio. too drunk end now

    I recommend to use 8''ers. Mostly they do not only have a better low end but also more balanced mid freqs.

    I'd like you setup a mix contest, someone from here can provide materiels, or people can submit, project that they feel it's worth taking it to the next level, or to spice things up, we can chose up to 3 projects from 3 different people, they can later serve as judges, Mods can pick these 3 songs, based on production level, then mix engineers or anyone who wants to join the action and the contest can contact one of the mods whose are intrested to run this competition (for the sake of safety of those projects), get the files, start working and send their FINAL enteries to the mods or mod. Later on judges can chose what they like and what not deciding the winner... So people get the chance to get their work mixed "professioanlly" or at least as close as possible, we get to have fun, and maybe learn something on the way?

    @No Avenger i know you would like something like that... whatcha think?

    @No Avenger maybe @MrZed needs to quit drinking.:cheers: Alcohol could be impairing his ability to process the information needed to make the right mixing decisions.

    Agree as to the sound superiority of HS8 over HS5. However, in a small, and most likely untreated room, the HS5 is going to be a better choice. A sub will help with an accurate picture of the bass and will help mixes translate better to other systems.

    A little mixing contest for our members' projects? We'd need three members for the jury and define some parameters but on principle that's a nice idea. I'm in.

    ... I would think using a sub is even worse. :unsure: But I've never done this.
    Two more things I'm sceptic about are the mid range reproduction of 5''ers and if the transition from 5''ers to a sub really works.
    But as I said, I've no personal experience with this kind of setup.

    @The Pirate Sorry man, I disagree with you. If you just said 5" are better for small untreated rooms I'd second that. But adding a sub instead of 8" monitors, as @No Avenger said, would be much more muddy in the end.

    Now that i have no studio , no console no pro monitoring no mastering room ,i have to reevaluate my mixing and mastering aproach, not easy that shift but i have no options but move forward, im spending all my free time relearn the monitor and the room .
    Will still offering my services for forum user that wanted, no charge .I did other mix today this time is EDM , hope you people like.

    yo, I feel like both times the original mixes are just better in terms of the balance and vocal. Being surgical with EQ is not always as important as just simply mixing two elements together to be complimentary in the balance. Although both original mixes did not have the most sheen individual elements and could definitely be more competitive, they both had a cohesive balance and sonic feel which is way more important than how much you can flex on EQ sculpting, compression and FX. Also be really careful how you approach the vocal, for example, the first mix has the vocal sound so disfigured, hollow, and weirdly dry at times, from the original track. If i was that vocalist, I would have called the mixer and said "how could you?" And yeah Mastering chains, that does not matter for folks who mix for a living, given we know what we are listening to we can hear right through any master chain and understand whats underneath generally speaking.

    Again the ori is better. It's fuller, warmer, has better phase, width and depth.

    Additionally, I would've preferred that you remixed your version of the first song and not tried a completely different one.

    I know what you is telling ,its about cohesion and balance, as im trying to do a clean mix it can become sterile ,and vocals im have allways beeing really carefull with them ,kind afraid ,since the edm mix i barely touch them. As i said im totally out of my confort zone now an comments like yours are really helpfull

    yeah no worries, I'm not tryin to be mean, cause lord knows some of my early mixes as a kid were far worse than where you have them. But I gotta say, the thing that really helped me the most was "the Fear". The FEAR of a client yelling at you for fucking it up. It happens, and when you have a coked out rapper strapped yelling in your face for fucking with their vocal its no longer about what eq you used, what compressor, which plugin chain, non of that shit matters because regardless of that shit, you fucked with their product and you are costing them time and money. It becomes about knowing what works, what levels people expect to hear, knowing what has come before you in the genre, knowing your client, and being wise enough to not touch something if it already sounds good. Always level match A-B compare your reference mix to know what is working and what needs improvement.

    I also prefer the original again.

    There's something wrong with the transient of the kick/drums, it's out of time and messing with the flow of the track.

    That was a good idea.

    I suggest you go to the Beginners part of cambridge-mt, there you'll find songs with way less tracks, like 10 or so. Then you drag them into your DAW and only adjust pan and level according to their mix. After that you need to figure out the differences of the raw recordings and the mix they uploaded. Try to achieve this sound first, which is way easier with less tracks, just by adding stock EQ and compressors. Maybe a limiter in the mainout will help. Don't use widening pluggies right from the start, only when really necessary. Have a look at an anaylzer, I can recommend Voxengo SPAN (free). Free TBProAudio ISOL8 (read: isolate) will help you to listen to separate freq ranges, as well as to mid/side and L/R.
    If you're more used to your HP, use these to start and compare how this sound translates to your monitors.

    I also prefer the original again just from a quick listen what you're doing to the vocals is missing what the original had. If I put them in my daw to reference properly I'd prob pick up on other things.
    If you've worked in a small studio as a mixing, mastering engineer you should know all these things and what to listen for?
    Changing monitors, room, with reference tracks you should be able to hear.

    As I'm still learning best plugins for reference for me at the mo are ADPTR MetricAB, Voxengo Span and I've also added Reference 2 from Mastering the Mix which I think is a great plugin. It gives you guides for frequencies balance and width to your reference track and it's level match keeps constantly working so you don't have to keep volume matching with changes like MetricAB.
