Are there any Auganizer users perhaps that can confirm that this software is discontinued?
    https://auganizer.com/
There seems to be no recent activity anymore and support isn't responding on messages or mails for a while now. Reason for asking: I tried the free version which let you change up to 10 plug-in names and it works on Catalina but nog anymore on Big Sur. Most topics I found on several boards are already old (around 2016) so I guess that's it for this helpful tool. But maybe others have replaced it with similar options?

On Facebook the last Posting is from Januar 2017.
I think the people at Auganizer are maybe overloaded and have to earn their money with other projects.
I would not buy their products.

    Which daw do you use?

I agree. Logic Pro X. I'm using the free version because I only wanted to change the names from a few plug-ins. Tools that cary the name of an artist instead of the actual developer for example. So it's not really necessary to buy it after all but helpful for those little tweaks. Making the switch to Big Sur means that it's not possible anymore to do so which is a missed opportunity I think.
If they still sell the full version, that feels a bit odd if it's not compatible anymore.

For renaming plugins- simply use plugin manager in LPX and rename it in the 'custom name' slot.

Ah, I didn't know that the Plug-in Manager could do the same. Hardly use it to be honest. But will look into it when I'm back in the studio next week. Thanks!

I'm finally able to test the given advice now but it seems that it's not possible to change the name from a (3rd party) plug-in or manufacturer. Only the stock category names are clickable. :dunno:

VST3 plugings should never be renamed because they will otherwise no longer work. Some plugs can simply be renamed and are still recognized, others “disappear”. Try it. Make a copy, change “.dll” of the original to “.dl” and see and be amazed.

Make sure Advance Options are ticked in Preferences , and 3rd party plugins are easily edited

Ah now I understand the earlier mentioned custom name slot. Thanks! However, although this could be helpful for some plug-ins, it doesn't effect manufacturer names, which was my main goal tbh.

I'll give an example this time:
    Manufacturer > Nicky Romero
    Plug-in > Kickstart
With Auganizer I changed the name from the artist to Cableguys, which is the developer (and because I already have some more from them, so that keeps things better organized in one folder)
As far as I can see, this seems not possible inside Plug-In Manager. Correct?

    Best Answer

It is possible , First let me tell you what Auganizer did in order to do this , It made an exact copy of your entire Plugin List and then gave you slots to edit them ,

    For Instance -

In Plugin Manager click on the + sign and it'll crate an Empty new Entry

    In That Type

    D-Music:Cableguys

Now go to Kickstart plugin in all plugin list (you can search it also)

Then Drag it to D-Music:Cableguys on the left-pane

Now it's upto you how many sub categories you create , it's a one time process , You can do it for all the plugins

I suggest you design how you want the Flow of your plugin browser to look like .

Alphabetical or Categorical or Manufacturer\Developer based

Superb! At the moment I already have everything the way I want it - also a bit hesitating to change things now - but I'll save this guideline for the next time I'll need it, when doing a fresh OS installment for example or when newly added plug-ins ask for it. Anyway, if it means that I don't have to rely on Auganizer anymore, that's great.
