Just to clarify this, both Ark and Albion have loud and quiet libraries. In particular, Ark 2 and Albion 5 are "quiet" if you will. The others are "loud" in varying degrees.

I don't own it but I heard it in some lessons I am taking with a composer (also beta tester with EW) and even if I was over Zoom.. the articulations sound incredible and are always super useful. I do have a lot of orchestral libraries and own the GoldX EWQL version.. it's not as comprehensive but even that one, the close-miked still possess a vibe that I cannot find anywhere else. Alone or layered, I am definitely a fan and it's not just about the technicalities imho, there's something about the players/sample choices/miking/programming.. so many details that can decide the outcome!

I am literally drooling over the Opus edition but there is no chance we will see it 'somewhere around', I guess. Even if I pray him for a coupon or discount, it's way over my pay grade.. and group buys are not gonna work, either. Why is life so hard on us :)

Almost. They added 130GB of new recordings, but the main part is the old Hollywood Orchestra, that's right.

Really? I don't think just under $20 for Composer Cloud X is too much, per month. And I think the Hollywood Opus Edition is fantastic, including the Orchestrator. But also some other libaries of theirs, are still quite usable and included.

I get a subscription to ComposerCloud as part of my study program with my teacher so I am just going to commit to a longer study period (I've been doing a month with him as a test, but I like him) and get that. Can't wait to "download all the things!"

I am usually pretty much against subscription models but in this case I am leaning to say, the wealth of libraries is insane and - even if this sounds funny - I have to admit knowing I committed will kinda make me "GO" more and push to actually finally release some music.

However, part of me still wishes for the 'owning' thing of sound libraries.. although with things evolving in the years, why keep something that becomes obsolete when I can keep a subscription, print all MIDI parts to audio to be safe and eventually - if needed - either re-download that one library from an old song or use the MIDI with a new one. I mean, yes, they can keep your song hostage because you no longer have a subscription with them, but if you save the MIDI, print the audio, screenshot the GUI (*which should be part of a good backup routine for composers, imho*) you are safe.

This is always super IMO of course - I am a beginner and don't even pretend to be right but I do believe in the above ;)
