Sad day. The news of his passing hit me hard. When I was starting to get my feet wet, for a period of about 9 months I assisted in several sessions Al engineered. As I mentioned on another thread, Al was against EQ during tracking, and compression use was minimal. These techniques he learned from Tom Dowd, and which Al preached as gospel to every engineer that crossed his path. With his passing, the greatest engineer of all times leaves us a legacy that encompasses more than 7 decades. Those who knew him personally, and learned from him are extremely grateful for such a privilege and invaluable experience. Al may be physically gone but his spirit remains in countless current and future records. Every time I take part in a tracking session or sit behind a mixing console, Al is there next to me.
    RIP Al... and thank you.
