This error message pops up - I know it's telling me why it can't open, but I don't really understand admin rights etc

 

Since it's in your user folder you should have complete permissions to do what you want there. It is not about permissions. What puzzles me is the "OneDrive" folder, though. I've never used OD, nor wish to use it, but it might have setup some different permissions within that folder. Also, does the "Sonarworks.Reference.my.grandma.makes.the.best.strudl.in.the.world.but.i.should.not.eat.that.much.because..." folder actually exists?

 

move the folder Sonaworks.reference etc.. in C: or in a Drive/Folder other than Onedrive and run the keygen

 

onedrive is a cloud-based folder. i'm pretty sure you can't run a keygen in the cloud - especially one that is bound to trigger false positive malware detection.

 

Your AV probably is the issue, check windows defender it's the one that's deleting it.

 

I think that was it you know - thank you. I'm not using One Drive intentionally, would delete but certain folders seem to be 'inside' it.

Best thing to do for Sister site downloads is to download to a folder on non-OS drive (maybe the same drive where you want to archive it.)
Then in you AntiVirus settings, choose to "exclude" that folder from being monitored/scanned.
You may exclude other folders from being scanned ("Windows Defender" folder itself i read should be due to possible bug, but also i know OpenOffice Calc would crash from pasting until i excluded....
Also your DAW folders and anything else you don't want scanned while working.
Some people say to just disable AV but i like it scanning my normal internet stuff and downloads etc.
Yeah i exclude all my other drives,and exclude maybe 20 folders on my OS drive, but hey! Haha.

Sheeeit - I just looked at your Picture of that message and see ...
It looks like you are syncing all your stuff with One Drive.
I had to get rid of a program (I think DropBox) that someone had allowed to sync everything, and it was a pain in the ass. I uninstalled it, but it left links active and did not "revert" folder locations to defaults.

Maybe it was something I did wrong, but be careful in HOW you uninstall One Drive (if you do).
Maybe it is just syncing, but i hope it has not placed itself "between" you and your folders.
OR, (what i suspect) it may not be clear IN WHICH folders you are actually working..
(The REAL "Documents" folder vs the "ONE Drive\Documents" folder.

Making a manual backup should make it safe to do what you want and not worry!

It's only synced to the cloud (like Mega or iCloud or whatever), anything done there is done locally. It certainly is by default one of the scanned folders. I highly doubt that is the problem though here but it can't hurt to copy it to another folder and whitelist that folder in the AV.
