I have a stereo guitar track

I have another track for reverb and send the guitar to the reverb (reverb is full wet)

In the routing...i can select whether i want the signal to be send as mono or stereo

I am soloing just the reverb track now just to hear the effect difference between the mono and stereo

the stereo one is indeed stereo.....

the mono one is confusing me. Although its indeed less stereo than stereo...i think i can still hear differences between left and right channel...like its not true mono....

Don’t know shit about Reaper... but are you 100% certain the reverb effect is mono?

Also, your final comment is highly confusing in that you say you can hear a difference between L/R... Well, what are you talking about Mono than if you’re speaking to a stereo configuration in the first place?

its definitely not mono , you have to collapse to mono after the plugin

    Me too.
For everyone who knows shit about Reaper, :winker: here's what OP's talking about:
Reverb only, first stereo send, second mono send, third both with one phase inverted

For a mono source mono or stereo send doesn't even matter, they're identical.

I think you want to actually set the width to 0, not -1. I don't know if -1 is the inverse of the wave or something.

Also, for the op, you could also just set the width on the reverb channel itself.

I am not sure if I have a good VST for measuring width of a sound (other than my ear), but I loaded up S1 Imager (Waves) and flipped meter mode to M-S. I turned the ReaVerb width to 0, wet 100% (0db), dry 0% (-inf), and turned the send to parent on the original track off, and waves shows no side output, just mid. I'm not hearing any side output either, but maybe my ears are too shitty? lol

this width slider does nothing but you are right from the trim/gain/stretch that i never knew existed before now you can set the width to 0 and it works , this plugin is actually deep and have alot of features to do crazy stuff

I never knew convolution plugins have this much power to do stuff you can make your custom delays and textures , I found this tutorial using ableton convolution reverb plugin but I think the concepts can be recreated in reaper

Oh OK, that's actually interesting. I am not actually very familiar with ReaVerb. I hadn't added anything in the section to the right of the wet/dry slider. If you don't do that, then that width slider in the bottom left actually does affect the width. But once you add stuff in there, then you seem to have to set the Stereo width on whatever you put in that "Impulse response generation" section (select the item in there, then on the right side set stereo width).

I use Reaper, but for Reverb I use Fabfilter and Raum, primarily. I know the stock VSTs are pretty decent, but the only one I actually use is ReaEq, and sometimes ReaComp.

A simple way to control the left/right space of any stereo track in Reaper is to:
right-click the Pan control of the track
under Pan mode, select dual pan

You should now see two pan faders (red left, green right Reaper default colors).

Err, if I understood OP right, none of you did, it seems. The question is why is there a mono option for the send and what is it doing, what is its purpose? And after testing it, I've no clue. What about you, guys?

Don't know what this is showing but you had a listen to my audio file (I think) and the second example is clearly not mono.

I printed a pingpong delay and a an imager plugin , It definitely sends mono signal , the problem maybe from reaverb but not from the send

    This might be relevant.
Sorry - this is a very terse description. It just illustrates a bit about mono send versus stereo send.

Aside: when I first looked at Reaper, I found their clever tracks confusing.
I eventually found it made some kind of sense to think of their tracks more like busses.

    Below I describe 3 scenarios.
If you compare Scenarios [2] and [3] it should at least illustrate how the Mono versus Stereo send makes a crucial difference.
How that applies to your stereo source scenarios is a problem I'm not getting into

In all these scenarios I think of Track A as like a normal Track
and I think of Track B as being more like an FX bus.
Whether that bus is behaving as mono or stereo is crucial

and huge apologies in advance if i screwed up with any errors in rushed explanation. :dunno:

    ====

    Scenario [1]
    - Track A mono signal sent to Track B FX
    - Send is stereo (by default) (so it's a stereo bus)
    - Track A panned Left, Track B panned center

    Result:
    - Dry Track A is panned Left
    - Because Track B FX is receiving Stereo, and the received signal is panned Left, FX is applied only to received left signal
    - FX is heard only on Left

    ====

Scenario [2] (same as Scenario [1] but FX panned right)
    - Track A mono signal sent to Track B FX
    - Send is stereo (by default) (so it's a stereo bus)
    - Track A panned Left, Track B panned right

    Result:
    - Dry Track A is panned Left
    - Because Track B FX is receiving stereo, and the received signal is panned Left, FX is applied only to received left signal
    - But FX is panned right - so no FX heard at all

    ====

Scenario [3] (same as Scenario [2] but send is Mono)
    - Track A mono signal sent to Track B FX
    - Send is set to MONO (so it's a Mono bus)
    - Track A panned Left, Track B panned Right

    Result:
    - Dry Track A is panned Left
    - Because Track B FX is receiving Mono, it still receives a signal even when Track A panned Left, FX is applied to received mono signal
    - FX is panned right
    - Now we have dry signal panned Left and FX panned Right

This made me think, so I made another test. Conclusion, all is working as it should but the effect isn't that big when used in context.

First dry, second reverb only send stereo, third send mono.

Along with the source it's hardly differentiable (no example).
