this one is funny. if someone has patches or presets they like enough to use them often, what is the chance they are going to tell anyone?
They take the time to go through all their synths presets, make some patches, and select the best ones; only to turn around and give away the work involved in that. Maybe expedite the process and just post a mailing address to send hard drives to....

The most helpful answer to this question is simply No. Go figure it out yourself (it's half the fun of making music). If doing that is too much work, I'd suggest another hobby.
    Model Rocketry or something.

Well I'd gladly share my favourite presets were I to have any. Not really losing anything that way.
Also, if one's fun is about writing music and *not* doing sound-design, *it's still their fun*. Many people, for example, were classically trained. All those synth shenanigans might just be completely alien to their music feel. And they can still be a better producer than you or me.

you aren't losing anything, agreed. especially in reference to presets. But you aren't actually helping anyone by spoon feeding, either.

It's not the same as someone explaining how to build some certain sound, comparing different synths for certain purposes, or even reviewing presets, soundbanks or sample libraries. it's literally "ok, now push B26". Many producers will not even use presets simply because they want their own sounds, not just because it is just lazy.

Your other point holds less water when looked at it re EDM production. If someone "classically trained" doesn't particularly care about sound design, that's somewhat normal. Usually though, that persons inquiry will be more like "which new Stage Piano should I check out? The Electric Piano sound is important, not the pipe organ". It's hard to play that "classically trained violinist" type card here, when the question is specifically not about that in any way, shape, or form. A huge fraction of making bass music is making Bass. This is more akin to a "trained musician" asking you how to read sheet music. It's actually worse. They would have to ask you to do it for them.

You only to have to look up, how to make "the sound I'm looking for" on youtube to rebut your comment.

Chris Lake, Avicii, Martin Garrixx, Disclosure some of the biggest names in EDM all use presets.
I probably have 250,000 presets over every vsti that I'll never be able to go through them all, but I shouldn't use them because people on the internet think it's lazy is ridiculous.

In the 80s you would have to develop the pictures too! :)
