the interface is what i love about Ableton and btw you can use skins in Ableton since version 8 or so.

Ableton was born with this minimalistic GUI and thats what i like about - it puts me in a creative mood.

As disappointing as Live 11 is, Ableton still has the best workflow with Push 2.

For 4 or 5 years old laptop, Live 11 is a too-much-resources consumer, cracks, pops, ...fucks... Plus strange incompatibility with projects including native plugins from v10. I have come back to v10 successfully.

I started off with v8, version 8 was crashing constant, since then ableton got it more solid with every release.

i havnt used Live - really not for something else than a DAW and for that its good.
BITWIG is nice and okay, but i can work with it, the gui, the devices, i dont like them. And so far so good, v10 seems to be the go for me after v11 has been released still.

VST3 working good, i dont know what you mean really? it scans, VST3 plugins just work like VST2 plugins, i have vst2 and vst3 plugin versions installed and i saw no difference in CPU usage. So how do you backup your claims?

Ofc i wont get stuck in the abilities Ableton Live 7 had - i mean lots of new devices were added and i love most of them ...

Max4Live i dont use, only the LFO device, but thats all and for me thats okay.

Anyway, those are my opinions, you can have yours ofc always.

Had the same problem, the CPU isnt pushed hard, yet you get crackles, pops and whatever in Live 11. I think there is something concerning the GUI? Which they hopefully work out in the next releases?!

    I moved to bitwig
i don't know why but ableton acting weird in my 10-year-old pc. if I make 1 track and insert a plugin in it and duplicate it like 80 times, ableton becomes sluggish no matter if my CPU is full or not. even moving loaded plugin around is sluggish. I don't find the answer to it. I have this problem in 11 and 10, not tested 9.
bitwig does not have this problem and it have interesting options too
like: it never going to crash. plugins load individually
real (i mean it) deactivate bottom.
and I think the whole daw is like a synth . everything is modulate able.
suggest giving bitwig a try :)

Ableton 11 works fine on my Ryzen rig and for all the complainers about the cpu monitor just right click it and set it back to the old mode. Problem solved. Rack variations are great, I wish they would upgrade the browser and add a native multiband splitter that kept phase accuracy. Fl Studio added one recently.

Cpu meter in live 11 is absurd. I have my settings on 64 latency and even with the cpu asking for help with a couple of tracks at the beginning... I still can add lots and lots of tracks with effects and whatnot and no glitches and not much of a change on cpu meter.

I just forgot that I have it and keep on working on my songs.

By the way, cpu meter ON THE TRACKS are waaaaaay better and actually if you hear a clip or something weird... you know what plugin is doing it.

You might know this trick but I just use the Multiband Dynamics device and solo the frequency bands inside an effects rack.

it seems logical to me that plugin windows increase cpu load because not many plugins use gpu acceleration...

I have analyzed many different versions of ableton regarding cpu load. First of all Ableton loads the cpu more when plugins gui are closed, while a little less with open gui. It is so, even if you would expect the opposite. However, if the load is close to 97%, then with the gui open it starts to slow down and drop, while with the gui closed it could still hold a normal playback.
    Specifically I analyzed the following versions: 10.1.1 - 10.1.3 - 10.1.9 - 10.1.17 - 10.1.25 - 10.1.30 - 11.0.1
quickly and without going into details, as a result of my tests, I can say that from vers. 10.1.25 onwards, the load on the cpu has increased considerably, on average by 2 percentage points, compared to previous versions. Vers. 11.0.1 has gone back slightly, so with only 1% more than the previous ones until vers. 10.1.17.
The cpu overload problem also occurs to me when I duplicate a track but also when I delete a track, but it is only a graphical problem. Also Duplicating a heavy audio track gives the same imperceptible dropout as in vers 10.
To date, however, I have not yet understood the real usefulness of the window with the two different meters cpu of the new version 11. The Average mode is the same as vers 10, the "current" mode is simply the same meter but with a shorter refresh time. Nothing more. Ableton, honestly speaking, is not really a DAW. To become a DAW it would have to be completely rewritten from scratch, considering as good things only the SRC, the warp engine (maybe), the window for MAX, and its virtual instruments and processors...

I don't understand why so many are having cpu issues tbh. Yeah the spike get a bit high but it's running like a champ on 10+year old Mac pro :dunno:

It's only on the mix window. You have the enable it on the far bottom right. It's one of the buttons there

I'd really like to try Ableton 11 but I'm not going to be upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 any time soon.

but comparing with v10 shows not such cpu increase, it only happens in v11.
