I did, I'm holding the CD in my hands as we speak. I can still see it now, the snow falling on the trees in the winter of a childhood that might've been mine. It was such an emotive work and it ended up having a profound effect on me, so much so that the emotions just came spilling out. All these years later, still trying to put the pieces back together. Still looking for the cure.

Ahhhh, my favourite rock band ever. I was 12 when I first heard "17 Seconds/A Forest" cassette, which I still have. I think A Forest was the best ever, but we all have our own opinion the best from Smith and company. Just an amazing band and I completely support Smith swapping genders, he's now an 80-year-old grandma.

 

I saw two shows on that US tour. The stage was this green cave looking set, and the live sound was no-expense spared immaculate.

for me, that record is the perfect record for their sound. and should have been the end. kick the last nail in.

Certainly one of my favourite albums. So dense, yet ethereal. I do believe the title track is the one that shakes me up the most. The relief of bitter honesty

 

Exactly. and they probably should have stopped with new releases there, too. I saw one show of that tour, but because Nitzer Ebb was opening for them. They had just released their album Showtime. Damn, remember live music? lol

 

My favourite track is always changing, but it could be any one of the 12 tracks depending on the day and my mood. Currently it's Untitled, but I never tire of listening to Plainsong or Closedown, those two always kill me! And of course Pictures Of You is pure heartbreak ...

@Zenarcist Long time since i talked to you mate. Great album really. I always had a thing for them since 1979-80. I saw the Cure in 1985 in the Rock in Athens festival. This was likely the biggest European festival of 1985. It was a two days affair, first day had Telephone, The Stranglers, Depeche Mode & Culture Club. The second day had Talk Talk, The Cure, Nina Hagen and The Clash. They were all great, the Cure were amazing, the Clash appeared last and almost burned the stadium down lol.
Btw, "80 year old granny" or not, Smith and the band still do it like time stood still and perhaps even better now than back in the day. So please excuse if this is slightly out of context. I will post Cure's live at their induction ceremony in the Rock'N'Roll Hall Of Fame. I also post Trent Reznor's opening speech which i found great:

Thanks for the reminder. I wanted to listen to the Cure in the last few weeks but I never found the right time, now is the right time.

I still have the Vinyl I stole from my parents 15 years ago, always wanted to return it xD

Absolutely fantastic band! I still remember the first concert I went to. It was the tour for the album "The head on the door". The support band was a band called "Hard Corps". A completely electronic band that was really great. "The Cure then played for two hours. But then it wasn't over for a long time. First came the first encore with 3 songs. Then came the second, again with 3 songs. Then the third with another 3 songs. Then the lights went on in the concert hall and people were already leaving when the band came back on stage and played a few more songs. Absolute madness!

 

Head On The Door is another great album, and even greater in the context of when it was released!
