A friend of mine owned a pair of these for a short while. They are okay for a bedroom musician but for mixing on they have a very annoying upper-mid resonance that doesn't go away however you place them in a treated room. My friend also complained about them being very noisy when not used but I never took notice to it when I were listening to them. I guess they could work if you really can't afford adding an extra $85 for a pair of Adam T5v, Yamaha HS5 or Kali LP6.

Hi, I have Kali LP6s, in a 20m2 room, left Tannoy at 2000 euros.....they have a nice panoramic, balanced, round bass, HF and LF adjustment options (±2dB) are included here.
    never tired during long sessions

I own a pair of 305 and they are decent speakers. But the chassis is low quality and I can confirm the resonance problem on one of those. To solve the resonance problem I had to play a constant signal at the resonant frequencies and screw/unscrew the screws on the back panel until I found the proper positioning. I've also seen someone tweaking them by using foam inside the chassis. The noise problem could be related to bad AC ground and it doesn't appear on mine. Don't know if this updated model has been improved on the chassis side, if so they are good for post production or in conjuction with a pair of 8" monitors for music production.

Are you talking about the 305P MKII, or the original LSR 305? Because I have the LSR 305 and they are nothing like you just described - the midrange is smooth, transparent and pleasant, and there's absolutely no noise. When I checked them against Yamaha HS5 (yikes), KRKs and Genelecs of a similar price at the store, they completely blew out the competition.
