checking result:

you can use \/ instead of \\, then nexus will write it / (and simple slash will then work directlly)

the suspect IP's are only a v2 factory presets result. if you convert the v2 presets un v3. (saved as user preset)
and the dll will not call these IP anymore.(no need to edit the host file)

the factory presets have nothing to do with the setup, they works with the Rom Samples folder. an oldie from nexus 2.
studio production 1 also use Rom, ROMEx2 expansions. crossing samples containers. it is also an old shit from n2.

the 16 last products are the updated library, you don't need 170Go of nexus 2 content more.
it will take only 21Go. with the best sounding libraries.

all the samples of the last packs v3 are tagged nexus 2.5 inside. reFX only updated the box.
Osc waves are still super cheap and the most evolved pack is Lo-fi.

without the choice to change the sound of the Osc using a preset. this rompler is poor.
only the midi seq Arp part is interesting.

maybe nexus 4 will be more creative on the routing for the samples and the effects. because this part is very limited.
it is more a toy than a synth. nothing is editable in the sound choice and tracks management.

Good idea, because it is impossible to block IPs using a hosts file. It is not a firewall. The sole purpose of a hosts file is to override DNS. You give it a host name and map it to an IP address, mapping a host to 0.0.0.0 just causes name lookup to fail.

 

These are the hosts name for the IPs i found the plugin connecting to:
(These 2 are triggered as soon you open the plugin)
147.75.71.186 web.refx.com (This is always connecting everytime you change a preset too)
54.70.136.156 ec2-54-70-136-156.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com
(This is triggered after a while)
52.42.114.201 ec2-52-42-114-201.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com
My plugin(3.4.4) never connected to the 4th IP.
I have seen that refusing connection to web.refx.com will trigger "This preset was created with an older version of Nexus 2, Nexus wasn't able to connect to the Cloud Conversion service" so the IP you need to unblock is the web.refx.com one. I'm not sure what are the other 2 IPs doing so i'll suggest to block them unless you get some errors with the plugin.
