Maybe this has been discussed before, but i cant find anything.
I found this here: Room Sound - Kurt Ballou Signature Series Drums (KONTAKT)
and i would like to use it before i go on buying legit.
Can i use this on a legit version of Kontakt? When i try it says that it's on demo version, without a UI.

first all, it is against the rules to post links to warez here.

second, kontakt is a vst. what you linked to is a library for kontakt. it is not a vst.

 

This for sure has been talked about elsewhere, but I'll mention it anyways.. IF YOU ARE A WINDOWS USER (It does not work on Mac) your best bet is to grab Kontakt Portable (cracked Kontak) and have both the legit version and the cracked version on your PC. the legit version for "legit" libraries, the cracked Kontakt for ones you downloaded the not so legit way

This is what I do, and it works great.

if you normally work with legit, and you want to install a cracked copy or a copy with a GUI remake in addition, you can change its name with a hex editor so that it will be found again in your project.

 

And on macOS, where this no portable?

No. Only cracked Kontakt plays shared libraries. IE There is no such thing as a cracked library.

 

No idea, I don't do Mac. I know your question is rhetorical, but Mac users can help Mac users. This is obviously help specific to PC, suggesting Kontakt portable.

It is a 50/50 guess, and I've already had macOS newbs come to me in Inbox having wrongly assumed the standalone is the portable and in all sorts of messes!
So your answer is not the most helpful, if you can see now?

 

The best way is to simply use cracked Kontakt even if you own a legit one. Just keep it “for moral reasons”.
