How do you use Scaler2? Does it make notes or do I need to add a note generator before?

@spncart I think you may be over thinking scaler. It definitely can be used completely independent or as part of a chain. It can be its own sound source, can be controlled by another midi device/generator, or can control other midi devices/generators. As another user mentioned you can drag the midi out and still have all the power of editing midi in the daw. It even has midi capture and can detect a scale from you playing or from audio. I think its the most powerful and the most user friendly tool in the midi helper/generator category. Not really sure why you have the impression its difficult to setup or work with. The only part that could seemingly be difficult for a beginner might be learning to route midi in your particular daw, but using scaler itself is a breeze once you get that part.

I'm going to try it out. I've been playing keys for over 30 years but I think any composition tool that can assist you writing better music is worth a try (especially with a "try before buy" option). Especially if it's something you can use to quickly get "unstuck", or even just making a quick melody to write the rest of the track around. I really like using Midi files for that, and also when I am making HW sample packs. You can just load up a few decent loops and concentrate on making the synth patch.
