I agree totally, yesterday MS Defender quarantined the dll, so I'm patiently waiting for the final verdict. Yesterday Virustotal reported 26/69 engines and now it is already 30/69. Very suspicious!

 

the audiobar forum with the origin of this whole mess doesnt work, but i managed to find 1 cached page with waybackmachine back in 2020 and even the chinese users there were talking about "so the guy cracked a crack?" and a lot seemed to be uknown. basically looks like the questions were asking now. unfortunately i cant access any later links theres probably more info, the website doesnt work

 

I found one of the listings with positive ratings, and can confirm this has been around at least for a month.

hey i have a question i'm on mac and i've installed nexus. do all this fishy aws server pings obfuscation of the dll weird files installing etc apply to mac? questioning whether or not to uninstall nexus.

But if the purpose of the releaser is to do something malicious, wouldn't they do it in both mac and windows? I mean would it make sense to release a clean version for an OS, and release a malicious one for the other. I would say if the thing is malicious for windows, then it probably is for mac too, or vice versa.

 

Could be. But also they'd release the same version on Windows & Mac. Windows version is 3.39 while Mac is 3.37.

Hmm yeah it’s possible. Did you have a chance to check whether the mac version also connects to the same Aws server?

 

It connects to one of the AWS servers (that does indeed belong to reFX as I said earlier, so no worries there)

I haven't observed it enough to see it connect to the other AWS server though.

The worrying part about the Win release isn't the AWS connection but the .dll obfuscation that could be hiding some code and no trusted team has ever done this.

idk if mac users can even get a virus or something like that from a component file. but i wouldnt even know. i've blocked all the ips mentioned in this post in little snitch but idk if that will work. the windows dll seems very fishy judging by this thread but mac seems a bit safer, but ill wait before deciding to keep it or nah

 

I share your desire to know what the programs I run are doing, but saying no trusted team has ever obfuscated their cracks is entirely incorrect. Lots of teams protect the details of their cracks to slow future protection efforts. Look at the semi-recent drama about people sharing early denuvo cracks

 

I'm talking about audio. I do know about people doing this in other places, but I've never seen this with audio releases.

it is now clear that nexus 3 finally works for osx with no problem. I believe the instructions arent very easy but with a little bit of trial and error ... it works!
What I dont understand is ... does the 160gb folder include the old nexus 2 expansions ? how can you import them if it doesnt ? are they worth it ?

Just read table of contents and compare to refx site. Yea it includes nexus 2. Btw I sell my nexus 2 60+ expansions for €500

 

Why not release this re-crackity cracked version as an NFT, and then sell it to Manuel Schleis,
that will kinda complete the circle..

 

For me it’s worth it even legal because I make it back. The sounds are pristine out of the box with trade off they’re not as editable as a real synth... ofcourse, but it does the trick for me 9/10. If you can make good stuff with it idk, only you know the answer. Here’s my list of plugins I would say are worth it to me everyday (bought legit even though most are available cracked):

UVI Falcon 2 (incl. all soundbanks/libraries)
Arturia V Collection 8
Spectrasonics Omnisphere (incl.Keysuite & Trilian)
reFX Nexus 3 Complete

You can make any commercially important music with these. But if I had to choose I’d pick Nexus 3 over every plugin out there. I don’t need unique sounds, I need good recognizable sounds that I can tweak a LITTLE bit and we’re good to go. Simplicity is key and nexus is king!

 

I take it it that you got the presets working. Did you put the "Preset" Folder in the Nexus Content Folder because so far all I can get working is the Init patch and the Arp/TG presets?

 

So this is basically like an mp3 ripped from a tape recording of a radio show? Not quite the FLACs we're used to
