i have been reading up on this since i first heard about a little over a year ago...the concept sounds like it would be amazing...the demos sounds absolutely mind blowing...anyone else been following this?.one thing that does not sit well with me is that its their private line kinda like how Spitfire had their Bespoke range a few years ago...to even qualify or to get an invitation to even purchase this is if you have spent 2K or more on their regular libraries. http://v8p.me/ https://soundcloud.com/8dawn/v8p-8w-hero-rising-8w-full https://soundcloud.com/8dawn/sets/v8p-8w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFwbPIOlIC0
Troels Folmann ... leader of 8Dio have a lot of odd statements regarding this new "release"!!! Read for yourself: Link: http://www.vi-control.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31657
i mean the only reason i can think that troels and company would make this exclusive is to try to cut back on piracy..sucks that you cant just buy or something unless you spend two grand on their other libraries
Troels Folmann is first of all a businessman. He loves epic excitment etc. and he knows how to make money *yes* ghostinthemachine said: patience SirSillySausage said: I'm pretty sure it will eventually get released to the common population in due course 8Dio (Troels Folmann) official said: We go on Facobook and tell nothing: https://www.facebook.com/v8p.me I say: nothing *no*
Hey Phloopy, you got nothing to do other in life than to chat on audioxxx? Will look for work, big lazy. It seems that they engage in the garbage collectors. A place that you would go like a glove.
Hi diving female Great to see you again! Not that you really have some news on this thread, but it´s always good to see "old friends"! Do you actually know what this issiue is about, or were you just making me a statement?? If it´s me you wanna have a conversation with, please do it in a mail! Thanks in advance
LV, can u stay on topic, instead of starting problems please. Cheers. ANyway.. some of 8Dio stuff is great, some.. not so..imo. I think Troels is a bit full of himself. This like every other Kontakt Lib. will get leaked eventually.
I don't like 8dio one bit. First of all, in December 2011 when Tonehammer was split between Soundiron and 8dio, 8dio introduced freebie Glass Marimba. Later on they were selling it for $59. Seriously, how can you sell a product that was available for free and call yourself a moral person? 8dio was also the one of the first to introduce patch watermarking. Like that would help them. Their customer support is horrendous, everybody knows that. I used to call it, "pay and go away" Looking at Adagio Violins, they released v1.0 in May 2012. That library was filled with bugs, some reported missing samples, etc. so they re-release it as v1.1. I guess they couldn't spend 3 hours testing that thing. Technically it's vastly inferior to most stuff on the market, 2 velocity layers, no release triggers and no sustain-round-robin, same as Adagio Cellos. It feels like they cannot finish those libraries, every time I use 8dio, it feels like something vital is missing If you compare them to LASS, 4 velocity layers, randomizable release triggers, randomizable round-robin sustain, excellent scripting, 3 divisi sections, vibrato control, multiscript, IR morphing (stage/colour), minimum ram/cpu requirements, real portamento and glissando. Strangely, no Kontakt library manufacturer offers money back guarantee. I used to like Soundiron, but since they started watermarking too, I've lost interest. Anyway that's just my opinion...
So dat! Adagio sounds fairly nice but it's such a chore to work with (for me) that I ditched it very early on. I listened to some of the demos and I'm not really sure that recording such a massive size orchestra is good or as effective in music as it sounds in words. Grandeur? Yes. Actually practical or awesome? I'm not sure (and I lean towards "No"). Every single track I heard is muddy as fuck, the reverb sounds like the players are in a deep cavern or something. No detail and everyone masking each other just to produce a layered, massive mess with no character or definition. Of course I wouldn't know until I saw for myself or in more detail, so I'll reserve some judgement. Just saying what I feel right at this moment. I think that's a side effect of digital purchase and downloading. Pretty much like saying "Dude, you already downloaded it. How do we know you'll actually delete it if we pay you back?" But, yeah, if it's a boxed version there should be a money-back option or trade or something, at least for the first few days.
