That has already been debunked. Not entirely but I agree with the explanations.

My main issue with post circa 2015-Macbooks: they are neither upgradeable, nor repairable. I would love to buy a M1 Mac eventually, but if I would make such a significant investment, I need to be sure that faulty components and can be replaced and the device upgraded (eg larger SSD). Otherwise it might become unusable after a few years (I'm the kind of guy who doesn't like to change a running system).

Don't think that's likely to happen anytime soon. The beta for M1 will only run another ARM based OS.

To run Intel apps on ARM, you need EMULATION.
Like Rosetta 2 do. But for the whole system.
    Kind of QEMU.
Even if you succeed, it will be totally unusable.

So guys, I'm deciding no getting a new MacBook pro mostly for my music needs. So, you think a MacBook pro M1 13" with 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD is a good choice? For that budget?

I love my MBP M1... IMHO, get as much RAM as you can afford.

8GB ram and 256GB ssd is garbage, 16GB ram and 500GB ssd is bare minimum
if you're not in a hurry, wait for next generation of MBP which should be 14" this autumn

if the software you use is not logic.... i would wait until it has support under arm and, honestly, I would wait for the next generation of products to avoid several problems that have come out (as personal opinion)

I use Logic as my DAW. So, I can go for Macbook pro M1 16GB, 256 GB SSD? Is it advisable? Off course I use k'd plugins. Will that be any problem? Do help. Thanks.

some of the x86 compatible cracked plugins seem to be working under rosetta, but i would go if they don't have fully support under arm (and cracked obviously)... but in the end, the decision is up to you

Wondering if all the software/plugs i own will require a large cash layout updating them to run on these new machines?

I have both a 2.3Ghz 8-core Intel i9 MacBook Pro 16" with 32GB RAM and an M1 Mini with only 8GB of RAM, both running Logic Pro and many cracked plugins. In virtually every instance, the M1 outperforms the MBP, with rock solid stability, despite the M1 running lots of stuff under Rosetta 2. When I purchased the M1, I had no intention of using it for audio, but since I'm an IT guy for 30+ years, I decided to to test it out of curiosity. It has quickly become my machine of choice. I've also tested my SSD for excessive wear due to swapping, and I'm still at .08% wear after 2 months of heavy use.
