Every musician I have met that I considered great had no concept or consideration that they were. Basically what I learned from this many times over, is that we are all on a musical journey and we are all learning. The day we think we cannot learn is the day we need to take a break and regroup until we get the passion back.
So every day is a new day and we are all new to it if we are trying to compose something new. It's actually logical because we cannot create something new if it's old. :)
... The only difference is we have a lot of old experience that sometimes helps us to find something new by telling us what we are doing is old... :winker:

Frustration is very normal. If you remind yourself that it's a stepping stone to something you will love and part of the process, it becomes gradually less frustrating. Nobody has ever had a life without one feeling of stagnation.
Enjoy the journey, it's as fun as you allow it to be. :)

P.S I liked what you did, I chose to listen to it and not be a music critic, that's all. :)

On the artistic side: I would have liked to hear more organic instruments, such as a piano or a guitar (both would be in vst, but there are kontakt libraries that are quite realistic) to give a greater variety to the result. this is independent of the fact that the song sounds good as it currently is.
On the technical side (which I have studied a lot, having certification): I feel that the song loses a lot of dynamics. everything is in front of me wanting to stand out from each other. You need to lower your mixing level and something I do is raise my headphones level in order to lower the level in the program that I am using. Also, try applying vst like soothe2 to remove annoying frequencies from some instruments as it feels too loud sometimes.
On the other hand, to balance the sound of your headphones, you can use cotton under the earpads, since this `` eats up '' low frequencies that may be unnecessary for the sound and improve the spacing a bit in my opinion (I think so). I felt when I heard references after applying it)

hope you understand what i wrote man, because i had to use google translator for the half of what i said ahahahah

You don't want it to sound like your only contribution to the mix is the bell pluck, which is totally foreign to the rest. Because it does sound like a mixdown of a production that only has two tracks.. Track1 containing a simple composition that was already mixed down together.. and Track2 containing the bell pluck.

Hi There, Sorry I didn't get what you mean. are you implying that it has only two tracks playing ? because there is a lot more. the bass, a 2nd bass, 2 brassy synth, 2 plucky synth and 3 leads plus drums. and the composition is mine I am not Mixing another track.

I'm into 80's music. Your song is very nice, in some parts it resembles Jarre's Magnetic Fields pt.2, in other parts it references Moroder..
I would change the bell for something more eerie.. as I understand the song is about a death. The bell is too loud and I think it's the only thing that doesn't fit.
Also, at 2:05 I would filter out the clap a little with a LP filter, for the shot to stand out.
Very well done, you are on the right track!

The entire track sounds really good. A good composition and production as well.

    But

I would like to emphasize persistently that "the pluck melody" (kinda bell sound) unnecessarily stands out compared to other main elements. And it somehow sounds so digital compared to other synth sound.

    I humbly advise you to

    1) Volume down the pluck sound a bit.
    2) Push back the pluck sound by applying some reverb with a pre-delay settings around 10-15 ms.
    2) Apply some saturation on the pluck sound to avoid being so digital.

If i were you, i would avoid using this pluck bell sound and it is really redundant because you already have a strong melody / counter melody starting to play at 01:03

    OR

I would change the pluck sound with another dark pluck sound.

I said it clear the first time. I can elaborate more. I'm implying it comes off as a production based solely on two tracks.. a cohesive composition that sounds together as "1". And "2".. a bell pluck that sounds foreign to that composition in every aspect (Tone, weight, proximity, character, amplitude, nominal distortion, etc.). It stands out blatantly to everyone who has responded here because the pluck is too much on it's own, environmentally different from the cohesive arrangement behind it.

Ah Ok I see now (sorry English is not my first language)
the thing is I wanted that sound because it sounded mysterious and alerting (at least to me) maybe I should have made it lower or even tried a different sound altogether
    thxs again.

good idea to capture the magic quickly and worry about the sonics later. Left brain - writing songs. right brain - Mixing/Mastering.

The (obnoxious =) bell should just be a fast, quiet, background arp rly. I couldn't listen any further once that came in. Too on teh beat. Also use Pianoteq (vibes et al) and dynamics maybe? I dunno, it seemed like a fairly good "bed" for a cheesy 80s main theme, otherwise:

(Track 3 in case AS screws up)
