am i doing something wrong? Jamming to this backing track

    so i loaded this backing track

    it says its in C


    but when i click the black keys on my keyboard it sounds just fine to me.......

    i must be either doing something wrong, or the backing track is in the wrong key

    can you check please?

    The track is definitely in C. Could be your keyboard is transposed a semi-tone.

    Yep. Its C alright. Being jazzy changes, the half step up/below could very well sound like it fits. I just tried some noodling in Eb minor pentatonic for example and it can work, heh. My jazz theory is shaky but the half step above or below is a thing. With the 7th chord tonalities, playing half step above/below is gonna be adding extension tones and so it works too. I mean, you can go playing a half step out then occasionally throw in a resolve note in key C, and voila'...jazz!
