I share your opinion as to ABBA's "Lay all Your Love on Me" being their best dance song. A club classic which back them was extremely hard to find and commanded prices in the range of $150-$300!
Disconet was part of Sugarscoop Records which was owned by Mike Wilkinson. If anyone ever runs into an 80's dance record crediting Captain Mike, that is no other than Wilkinson himself. Mike also owned Importe/12 which released Tantra and the club hit "Hip Hop be Bop" by Man Parrish. This song had John Robbie who also co-produced "Planet Rock." Even thought his sound is forever embed in electronic dance music, Robie hated disco music so much that he refused to have his name spelled correctly on his early ventures into dance music. In "Hip Hop be Bop" he is credited as J.Robbe.

Since I mentioned John Robbie, here is another one of his hits. "One More Shot" by C Bank. This song later became "Shellshock" by New Order.

"One more Shot" featured Jenny Burton who had released "I Remember What You Like" also produced by J.R. which is obvious if you are familiar with his sound. Burton followed her success with the number one dance hit "Bad Habits" this time produced by Fred Craig MacFarlane and Allen George

This is a thread that just keeps on giving, thank you all.

I've been on a Richard H. Kirk trip recently, his stuff as solo and as a member of Cabaret Voltaire is essential shit:

OT as it's not 80's anymore, but if you don't know the guy start with his solo "Virtual State", you'll thank me later

Back to Miami and further testament of the Cuban immigrants' influence on the 80s dance music with these 3 ISH's (Ismael Ledesma) productions. "Be Mine Tonight" was mixed by Ciro Llerena. A Cuban born DJ who was the resident at Casanova's, a super popular dance club in Hialeah for years, and a guest DJ at radio stations Super Q 107.5 and Power 96

@BEAT16 Thanks for contribution but remember to check the lists I posted at http://audiosex.pro/threads/the-80s-dance-music-thread.58021/#post-540881

Two of the songs you posted, "Menergy" and Dr. "Mabuse," had been posted earlier and noted.

Next person to post a song that has been posted will have to upload a self-video dancing to the Macarena

More goodies from the early 80’s.

The Quick - Zulu. British stuff, great groove. Would probably be considered politically incorrect these days.
Back then, they had no clue, they were just rollerskating to this track:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugz5yiosXf4 - longer version, no videoclip

More political incorrectness: Lectric Funk - Shanghaied ..Now that's a simple but effective delay. From the dictionary:
verb (used with object), shang·haied, shang·hai·ing.Nautical.
to enroll or obtain (a sailor) for the crew of a ship by unscrupulous means, as by force or the use of liquor or drugs.

Pet Shop Boys were pioneers of their decade, I remember when they first appeared on the scene and it was fresh.
