How dsp algos depend on age? Digital tubes can be broken too? Or research and development is better now than earlier? If yes, why there are still simple things can't be solved in maaany plugins even today (aliasing, dc offset, 32 bit float vs 64 bit float double precision quantization noise, cramping filters etc)? It is better to start with this fundamental stuff, then code r&d analog emulations, clean transparent digital AI shit...
These are just program commands, words and digits. Something solved, something not solved, bad implemented or bugs or something forgotten to be added. Today or 22 years ago.

just had a quick run at few of those, the NONLIN seems cool especially the AMS presets. I particularly like the option to control the release of the tail. Made a comparison with the 7th Heaven, and I like the TC better. Almost ridiculous to say that the TC when blend nicely with the snare and top percussion, sound a little more realistic than the 7th Heaven.

because TC is algo, and 7th heaven is sampled (although still algo)

What is you people favourite non-lin (other plugin) ? don't say UAD AMS pls.

I kinda feel from time to time like an asshat for buying a KT-2A. People who have ears that I respect said that it was decent and so I bought one. I vowed not to ever support Herr Behringer but did so against my own very sensibilities . I am weak and am but a victim of capitalist brainwashing. Help me find a way back to humanity and the way life is supposed to be...family, fast friends and the true freedom that saying no to what's easy and cheap can bring to your soul.

    Namaste and blessings.

The thing is: it's actually not about the code. it's about transitioning from Hardware which is becoming obsolete – to software for creating revenue streams for the companies. Except for instruments and controllers hardware is pretty much dead nowadays. So this is TC Electronics over-priced attempt of getting money from bedroom "producers" entangled in 90s nostalgia who want to feel the glamour of the "good old days" on their laptop, "producing" "music" in FL Studio thinking they need these "high end" "professional" "plugins" (which 95% don't even know how to operate anyway).

And as soon as an announcement by a reputable company is made that they now release plugin version of "legendary" hardware and everybody goes ape shit all enthusiastic and shit, downloading demos claiming "this shit is da bomb". 2 days later here come the so-called "reviews" by the YouTube industry mob (Warren Huart and co.) promoting the shit like crazay. 2 days after that there's anti-hype mastering guy who actually knows what he's doing who compares it to the real thing and be like, "mehh…" And then the circle starts all over again with another plugin that used to be a thing until it wasn't. And so it goes on and on… and on… and on… Don't you get bored by this? I know I am. :)

I've seen a number of Mastering 6000 appear on the used market here in Sweden in the last days, cheapest one was first 50.000sek and now down to 38.000sek ($4460/€3750)! Quite a depreciation from the retail price of ~$12.000 :hahaha:

MD3 has a TP option, MD4 always uses it. What more do you want?

Reminds me of the old meme I just made up:

    I seed torrent
    company X loses $60m 8O
    company X bankrupt ;___;
    I buy company X for $1
    I stop seeding
    company X gains $60m
    PROFIT

Me nothing. I just know people that were swearing by Brickwall Limiter from MD suite, and that were swearing it tops today's modern limiters we have available, I just wanted to give it a shot, I don't really care for TP protection.

I think he meant that the MD4 limiter is exactly the same as the MD3 but with more features. The only thing they have removed is the option to disable TP protection. It sounds logical, I don't think that they have re-designed the limiter from scratch but I can't find any info about it tbf.

So, the limiter in the Output section of MD4 should be the same as Brickwall limiter from MD Suite ?

I am getting the Md3 as soon there is a sale. I really like it. But I can not justify 199.-
Math behind a clean algo did not change in the last 20 years. :winker: A clean high quality algo back than is still today a clean high quality algo.

I like TC, and I like their multiband compressor [even though I'm not a fan of MB comps], and up to a certain point [pun =~-3dB point] the Limiter, but man nowadays LoudMax sounds better to me. Not to mention other, even better sounding limiters. Although, if you use it sparingly, and your mix is great, you won't notice much difference. Up to a point.

    From their website:

"The MD3 NATIVE plug-in is tailormade for music production in all forms. It uses a multi-band, high-resolution floating-point structure and features high-definition 4-band EQ, 3-band compressor/expander, soft clipping and newly designed transparent peak/true-peak limiter.

"The MD4 HD NATIVE is the most transparent high-definition dynamics processor ever made for your DAW featuring a flexible 6-band EQ, 5-band compressor, soft clipping and a newly optimized true-peak limiter."

So yeah, it's just updated with new features and more optimized.

Ha, since I'm a sceptic, I just compared them. I needed only a bit of limiting, ~ 2dB, and could identify 10/10 MD3 as the one with more punch in a double blind test. The difference wasn't big at all, but there.
