I took my tiny practice amp out on the porch, while I sit there jamming out on the couch in my headphones. Best thing I ever did. Now I can has outdoors while I jam. I'm not a hippie, you're a hippie.

Which reminds me. I need to go there now & turn flowers brown with the chicklet of my picklet.

I should take my Blackstar amp (I practice with it, so it's a practice amp) outside, but right now it is colder than my mother-in-law's stare out there. I'm not freezing my balls, I'm waiting for the summer where I can drink whisky in the sun and play the blues

 

Yes you should! Never haul your 8x10 fridge outside or anything, I'm not asking your chiropractor to work over time or nuttin like dat.

Somehow when it's a bit colder but you warmed your hands up + you wearin your granmuddas knitted sockaroos on bof your foos so it's all goose in the neighborhoos. Colder weather somehow adds on to your writing, but so does warmer weather. Just in a different way.

Norwegians even have their own corpse paint make up line for it. Maybe it's Maybellene or maybe its a black metal fiend.

If I was you, I would Robert my Johnson with my Crossroad Blues while I hanky the panky then pour whiskey in my coffee then go outside in my bedroom jammies to do some outdoor jamming so I could go all hammy on my funky whammy.

Give all excuses some useful nooses. Now go outside & share your music with some happy mooses.

I have a place with little over 3 acres in NH. With the covid situation I decide to build a small stage in the back yard. Wish I would have done it years ago. We had 4 jams last summer. Looking to play outside as much as possible this summer.

 

Nice 2 hour jam just been hadded. Totally worth it, I'm going to make this a habit from now on.

Why would I pass up birds flying about while squirrels eat their nuts to the mutts nuts of my playing?
I'd be an idiot to not give the sunshine rivers & trees some of this here Fmaj7 to G's.

 

I don't think my amps would like freezing temps and snow. And then again I don't think my neighbors would like me serenading them either.

So... maybe sometime later.

 

Besides being out there forever isn't something people do at shows either.
It's just a limited time outdoor activity because there is toxicity in the city.

But you should wait for a good day when the suns rays decide to pump plenty vita D's

I do try to catch some rays, of course. Still have to supplement my Ds.

I've been farting like a champ today and it's basically toxic clouds, so I have to air out my place every now and then, then the room temps drop and you know what? My guitars go out of fucking tune. So retune, enjoy. Then close the windows and it warms up. Time to tune again. Good times.

 

Damn man, if your farts so hot that it put your guitars out of tune then why haven't your neighbors called the fire dept already?

My guitar stayed in tune without locking tuners but you would never want to perform outside in hot weather without them for a longer period of time.

Generally my guitar stays in tune unless I'm breaking new strings in as I force them to rest into the headstock properly so they don't snap back out of tune as I play.

 

It's just the speed of the drop that causes it. Pre-COVID, when we used to hit the rehearsal space during winters it was SOP to leave the guitars and basses in their cases for roughly half and hour when coming in from the cold, then some time in room temperature, then tune and it was go time.

 

I know, anytime I've had to drive my guitar or bass inside its bag in the trunk then it would almost always come out of tune out the bag. But then I've played out side for an hour or two but things seemed fine. Maybe they get hotter in their gig bags.

The guitar I was just jamming with doesn't have locking tuners but it stayed in tune just fine but it also wasn't scorching hot outside & I wasn't in direct sunlight. No matter what though, I'm always in the habit retuning before I play or record.

Idk if you read my other thread where I started getting loopy symptoms so I'm trying to go outside more often for every reason & no reason at all lately. If it goes out of tune tomorrow I will just retune it.

Or start playing crossroad blues as I accept my out of tune guitar. Some riffs will just be played in different positions LOL

 

Tune your guitar to an open/modal tuning!

DADGAD or DADAAD, those will sound slightly wonky anyway and they're perfect for casual strumming. Works for me.
