These clowns inspire other wannabe clowns to get to that clown level. My home country is full of such wannabes, copycats grabbing these exact "strategic moves", lol. And yes, the problem is within the society these days. These generations of 20 year old dying from Xanax mixed with that syrup/whatever. The problem is the 12 year olds look up to these overdosed 20 year olds and that's how the circle goes.

there isn't some centralized monolithic (music style) culture that needs to be guarded or curated. more than likely this thread is an ad cause i never heard of some of the subjects listed.

We left the bad days behind. The worst days are about to arrive in the hiphop history.

I think he's referring to rappers who look like a bag of skittles that influence rappers who will take it past a bag of M&M's.

I could write a novel on this topic but, ya'know, I'm not made of time. Putting aside the irony of Pop Culture dictating the direction of "Hip Hop" nowadays, and for some time now, the long and short of this particular topic is that the scene will change, styles will evolve, or devolve, depending on your view, and though "Hip Hop" (quotes fully necessary,) most likely will continue playing follow-the-leader, with the leader in this case being flaccid Emo/Pop contrived for mass appeal and consumption (no pun intended,) that haunts Billboard's Top 40 chart, there'll always be Real Hip Hop out there, be it Old School, Classic, Modern, Future, or Alternative, you're just are going to have to dig a little bit deeper to find that High Quality Dope in this sea of Pop-saturated, "Hip Hop" jetsam.
All that being said, yeah, fuck these studio rappers and kids from the burbs who claim to be street--it's not a real thing.

I truly believe history repeats itself.... Literally I believe we are in another "DISCO" era of music. Another 1996-97 for Hip-Hop is around the corner. These fruitcakes just need to finish up OD'ing & suiciding themselves.

Extremely weird post, especially as it ignores the larger mental health and opioid epidemic in the nation. And given you seem to be quite the astute internet music historian, you also know the true reason why disco died and how it largely had nothing to do with the genre itself . But there is and have been a 1996-1997 revival of rap going on for a while now. Considerable underground rappers like the ones under the Griselda banner who received cosigns from Eminem, along with rappers like Freddie Gibbs who has partnered with esteemed producers madlib and alchemist, having two full projects with both respectively, as well as Pro-Era headed by Rapper Joey Bada$$. As said in the other other thread, you guys bitch all day and don't have a single clue on what's going on in the music scene you are bitching about. Seemingly, past and future.

I grew up with early 80s hiphop, fantastic times and very creative, every 6 months the style changed for better or worse but it all sounded great to my ears, the commercial stuff was good too. To my teen ears late 70s rap sounded good but incredibly dated within only a few years and early 80s rap sounded oldskool before the end of the decade. The 'hiphop' I hear nowadays sounds as though time has stood still for the last two decades as it still has the same sound just like mainstream pop music which needs a great reset as its become completely pointless generic music. I believe there was a coordinated corporate takeover during the mid to late 90s to dumb it down and kill hiphop off but sadly there are far too many people who have a low threshold when it comes to music which has allowed it to mutate into what we are witnessing today.

I grew up with the same as you, but I didn't see Hip Hop as changing style "every 6 months" at all.
Just different acts with their own flavour, all under the banner of Hip Hop. No 'sub-genres'.
Sure, some people stayed with the electro beats, some moved on being totally sample-based.
But it was all Hip Hop.
And what do you mean by "the commercial stuff"?
If something got noticed it charted. Simple.
Grandmaster Flash, Mantronix, Melle Mel & The Furious Five, Doug E Fresh, Rammellzee & K-Rob, The Fat Boys.
You call that "commercial" because it got world-wide acclaim?
