Been experiencing a strange symptom lately

This happened to me maybe 30 years ago now, the world around me didn't seem to look natural or normal to me. I wouldn't recognize myself in the mirror, and the world seemed like it was out of place. One example is that if I looked at something, say a tree then I knew what it was but it seemed "different" to what I remembered. It was almost like it was superimposed on top of reality. It took a while for these symptoms to go away, but I haven't experienced anything like this for nearly 30 years now.

True but I'm the type of person that sees difficulty then tries to just make it through it because that's where I keep telling myself real progress is made so I just suck it up & move on. Once I lock myself into a good groove it's hard to get out.

Listening to your body is important though, you're right. Mind too. I did really lock myself up in the dungeon for too long this time while denying myself life, basically.

It reminds me of a story about a person, who kept finding post-it notes in his apartment and thought that his landlord was stalking him. It turned out he was the one leaving them for himself, but couldn't remember that, because of CO poisoning. Check your place with CO detector, just to be sure.

Here's the link to the story, for anyone interested:

I agree, most likely the problem lies in the nutrition. But there is of course no guarantee that this is the solution.

I do not (yet) have any symptoms of failure, but due to the constant gawking at computer screens I forget to drink enough and then realize in the evening that I have drunk less than a liter of water. Then minerals are guaranteed to be missing and strange effects occur in the long run.
In addition, due to Corona, one sits almost exclusively indoors and breathes in the carbon dioxide that one has exhaled. This is not a good condition in the long run as well.

@Donut Nyamer In addition to the advice to watch your diet, you should definitely see a doctor.
Another reason for the symptoms you describe could be anemia, iron deficiency (poorer O2 supply in the body, brain included) or a circulatory disorder in the brain. These are all things that can quickly become dangerous if left untreated.

We can't really help you with distance - diagnoses. Best you see a Doc tomorrow.

Holy forkin shit! This is exactly what it's like. It wouldn't have mattered what I looked at. If it could be an image then I looked at it like it's never been gazed at before.

You know how people have fear of the unknown? Like if you were the first reported human to see a new species of animals they haven't discovered yet, but for all you know you were gazing demons escaping from the cave that is hell. It's just what fear of the unknown does before you realize those just regular cave bats, as seen on National Geographic.

Well that's how I imagine you look at everything when you're a newborn ready to come to this earth & when you're ready to leave it behind.

You're here, things are around you. That's it. That's all you know. What you're supposed to feel, what you're seeing & what you should know have not registered yet so you're left to revert to what I imagine is the most primal & ancient emotion there is.

Fear & nothing else + Fear of everything else.

I will never look at people the same again. Maybe Leonardo had a point as I think the birthing & dying states are exactly like this. The state of you not knowing yet & you no longer knowing are exactly the same.

It's like a reverting back to the original firmware. Like erasing the progress of your in-game character to start from scratch all over again. As if you don't exist anymore but you're still there along for the ride to this who knows what the fuck anymore man.

I actually considered this because it was the first thing I thought it was myself when I remembered this very story. But that doesn't seem to be quite what's happening with me. But then who knows. It still feels way different than this though.

Isn't CO gas, flammable? How do you check for it?

Going to read on that more in a bit.

There's a lot of possible causes, as evidenced by this very thread.

But these "fugue states" can be serious and you should still definitely see a medical professional and get some tests done.

    Do it, do it now.

Yes it is but that's not the real Problem
If you suspect that you may have CO poisoning, or at least that it cannot be ruled out, you should not first install a CO alarm, but first turn off the suspicious source (fireplace, heating) and ventilate thoroughly.
The problem with CO (unlike CO2) is that the blood forms an intimate connection with CO, which is not reversible. (COHb). The part of the blood with COHb is then destroyed and can no longer transport oxygen. You then need 100% oxygen to provide the remaining intact red blood cells with maximum O2.
If you suspect CO poisoning, you must immediately go to the hospital or better call for an ambulance!

This is some Russian Sleep Experiment shit. But this only happens at random times. Most of the time around waking up but it does happen when I'm up & about as well which I find alarming. Exactly like every experience in the link in the original post. I'm not constantly forgetting anything & have no trouble thinking or doing anything.

@phumb-reh I think it's definitely due to lack of sleep, poor diet & irregular sleep. Overexertion, too much caffeine & of course no exercise.

I think I'm going to catch up to all of that while taking regular walks outdoors first. If that doesn't help then I don't even know what to do because I'm not currently prepared for any medicals bills. So if I plop down like a flushed piece of shit then that's what I'll do.

listening would be nice but it's not necessary.

just know what you have to put in as if it were gasoline.

it's a mechanical thing and takes little thought once the program is set.

Purple donuts. Stop eating those purple donuts.

When I was a 20 I had a day off from the sleepaway summer camp that I was working at in the Catskills of New York state. My friends and I ate some peyote that we had bought from a Native fellow at around 6pm. The others were chilling while waiting the three or so hours for it to kick in, but since there was a councilor basketball game that night the lights were on at the court so I grabbed a ball and started running full court layups and just shooting around by myself having the place to myself as the rest of the camp was eating dinner. Well, because of my physical exertion my metabolism must have sped up considerably, and while I stepped up the the foul line to see how many free throws that I could consecutively sink noticed that the backboard had a resonant glow as well as everything else the same, coming to the stunning realization that there was no separation between anything in the universe, that it was just an illusion that tricked us into believing anything else, that ego was the culprit and that believing that we were all separated by the boundary of our skin and others was a pure falsehood. I was there transfixed at the backboard for at least 25 minutes when my buddy came down after noticing that I had not moved, my arms above my head with the ball poised and ready to shoot in at least that amount of time from the time he first noticed me at the line. I remember his hand on my arm and he looking at me while saying, "Grover (one of my many nicknames), you are fucked up, come with me". He led me to the seclusion of what was called Guest Dock at the lake waterfront just before 200 people descended on the court to watch the game and the certainty that I would have been found out to be "disassociated" from the shared paradigm of the crowd, LOL.

I still can slip in and out of reality scenes thanks to my history of injesting healthy amounts of DMT and other medicine which helps tune us into the other levels of consciousness which all exist in the moment. Although it might be prudent to perhaps pay a visit to a physician that could give you a blood test to see if a deficiency might be the culprit in the disassociation that you describe and/or the lack of sleep, though on the other hand it might be an opportunity to explore what is behind the door of what seems to be a kind of ego death that you are going through where nothing seems like what it is supposed to seem like, not recognizing things and the like. It's prolly best to do what you can to have your blood tested and then go on from there. A little go fund me might help you get there if you needed help, and I for one would be willing to kick in a few bucks instead of buying a discounted compressor.

Did you catch the covid virus sometime in the past year? A lot of people that has been sick and recovered have reported memory loss and dissociation as long lasting side effects. Just a thought!

Large crowds of sober people and large doses of psychedelics do not go well together! You are lucky to have your friend save you from that situation

I have family members who had/have dementia and some Alzheimer's. It's quite likely I'm destined for one of those some day (and Parkinsons.. yay!). Anyways, I don't think it's either of those, in your case. I could be wrong, but I think with those, you tend to know who you are just fine... but you lose your short term memory more and more, and forget who others are, not who you are.

Anyways, I am a bit cynical when it comes to doctors, but I still think it's worth going to see one, cause you never know. Everyone on the internet is a doctor, but isn't a doctor. Best to give a professional a shot. I'd guess it is some sort of oxygen depravity thing of some sort, but I have no clue and we probably shouldn't really be taking guesses.

you mean all of the frequencies in your brain

  18. I should have provided the caveat to my story that I, like Lois have done a lot of drugs in my time....still do, but also please be aware I suffered brain trauma following the unfortunate meeting of my car with a tree at high speed. However, my thoughts whereby I believe it possible that recently our Universe changed are not mine solely. CERN is playing with particles from another dimension and bringing them into ours. This is having consequences.

I would have pissed a bucket full of holy water by now & repelled those poor bastards for they cannot handle my pee!

I could also spit on them & the vodka in my saliva will ideally cleanse them as well.

Yeah that's actually a good way to look it at. It's as if all the frequencies in my brain were unable to connect to mix so all I had left was test tones with the expectation of a hit made from them.

This is what I'm most afraid of. This thing tuning into it's own thing & me being a vegetable that can only remember the last 5 seconds of my life. You always think some crazy shit can't happen to you until it starts happening.

I'm also pretty jaded to the entire healthcare system, not just doctors. Those prescription snowflakes that have you end up with symptoms like these either way after taking their shit.

Thanks for the story, that was really funny & entertaining. I would shit a brick too if someone found me talking to mushy musheinstein in the middle of a basketball court when I'm the only one flapping my wings like I'm on one.

Having said that I don't do drugs, unless weed is drug. But it's not, it's just lawn clippins'

I have drank more within the last month on top of all of this though too. I don't generally do drugs but when I do it's the odd mushroom trip every year or 2.

I don't think it's that. Because I will be fine the entire time and then this thing creeps up behind me, I go lay down to calm down immediately & I seem to come back to myself gradually.

That seems to work each time, otherwise it feels like there is a possibility I could probably short out & pass out. You do sort of feel like you might lose all strength but this could easily be explained at how strong & fast this random symptom comes on.
