    Mantronix
Anyone who uses a sampler today must have respect of this gentleman: Kurtis Mantronik -The King of the Beats-
It all started with him, he was the first to demonstrate to the world what sampling art is
here's a Mantronix megamix made by himself (1986!)

Sure it is, if you are a zombie polka enthusiast.
Because even as iconic as it is (no doubt about that), it is not a dance track and this thread is about 80s dance music :) Unless of course you fall into the previous category, in which case i stand corrected :disco:
With that said and because i like to contradict myself, oddly enough "In the Air Tonight" was played in all discos and clubs to my knowledge. But mostly after the slow dance part and usually it was the link track before the dj switched back again to the normal dance set. Yeah we had these in 1980-81 hehehe...
Stay tuned for more 80s. :)
    PS:
Respect. I wore out my first two copies of "Got to have your love" in less than 3 months from constantly scratching the fuck out of them. Love that shit but perhaps i shouldn't post this particular track as it wasn't properly released until December 1989. Ahh wth :)

Ah, you challenge the smartass in me. Accepted. [IMG] 80's Dance like in 80's slow Dance, me sees no 'fast' in the title. :bleh: :winker:

And speaking of wearing out, this happened to my first copy of this - just by playing it

Not very known I think but this was on the radio all the time when I was a kid.

Simple Minds - New Gold Dream, a well known classic of course, but very effectively used here for the intro of the film The Informers (2008) (bit sped up unfortunately). If you like Bret Easton Ellis' style mixed in an eighties celebrity setting: worth a watch.

    Alexander Robotnick
The italian composer made this hit “Problèmes d'amour” in 1983: a cult track for the dancefloor since then (I counted at least 17 versions of the song)

The Mike Antony's version, which was recorded a couple of years before Sade's was a big club hit.

One man that deserves a lot of credit for his contribution to electronic dance music is Patrick Cowley, the founder of Megatron Records out of San Francisco, and the creator of Hi NRG music. His music was a staple in gay and high energy venues in the USA. All of his songs sound as good today as they did 40 years ago. He died young at 32,an early victim of AIDS. Here are some of his songs which I played every night on my DJ sets.

What? That is news to me. That is something I did not know. At Midnight is in my top 10 from the 70s and I was professionally involved with Henry Stone, the owner of TK Records, for many years when he was with Hot Productions yet I never heard of Mike Anthony sampling from T-Connection. I know he sampled some of Timmy Thomas' original, and got sued for it. I also know that French disco producer Cerrone released another version of Why Can't We Live Together which received a lot of club play in Miami clubs and radio station Super Q 108.

Edit: I think that Kongas' was released before Mike Anthony's. I am not sure but will find out tomorrow.
